You Have Until July 10 To Stop Amnesty For Illegal Aliens!

Yesterday’s Senate vote to pass S. 744, the outrageous Obama – Rubio amnesty for illegal aliens bill, has moved action on border security from the Democratic-controlled Senate to the establishment Republican-controlled House.  (click here to see the list of shame of Republicans who voted for S. 744)

In normal times, conservatives would breathe a sigh of relief and assume that such bad legislation was headed for a merciful death in the Republican-controlled House.

But these aren’t normal times.

The push for amnesty for illegal aliens was fronted by none other than Florida’s Republican Senator Marco Rubio, who was elevated to the Senate over Florida’s then-incumbent establishment Republican Governor Charlie Crist by overwhelming support from grassroots conservatives and Tea Party movement activists.

In addition, New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte and Arizona Senator Jeff Flake also voted for S. 744, two other Senators who owe their seats to Tea Party and grassroots limited-government constitutional conservative support.

If these three perceived rising stars of the limited-government constitutional conservative movement would abandon conservative principles – and their own campaign promises – can the establishment Republican House leadership be trusted to hold to conservative principles on border security and immigration reform?

So far, at least, it looks like the House Republican leadership is holding firm.

Speaker John Boehner told ABC News on Thursday that the lower chamber was not going to take up the Senate bill.

"I think I made it clear that if we're going to do this the right way, there ought to be a majority of Democrats and a majority of Republicans in favor of it," the Ohio Republican said.

However, it remains unclear how Boehner and other House Republican leaders plan to proceed.

Boehner told The Hill on Thursday that Republicans are hoping to use next week's July 4 recess to take the temperature of their constituents, and the entire conference will meet July 10 to discuss the next step.

And here’s how we see things stacking-up in the House:

There isn’t going to be a majority of House Republicans in favor of anything remotely resembling the Senate Obama – Rubio bill, or any other “path to citizenship” for illegal aliens.

To pass, such a bill would have to get to the House floor and pass with most of the Democrats, plus 30 to 40 squishy Republicans.

And that’s where you come in.

We urge you to start letting your Congressman know NOW that you oppose anything remotely resembling the Senate immigration bill.

Stake out a spot at the end of the Fourth of July parade route to buttonhole your Congressman to let him or her know you that you want border security – not amnesty – and that you oppose the Obama – Rubio amnesty bill.

Most importantly, between now and July 10, call your Congressman’s office (Capitol switchboard is 1-866-220-0044) and tell them to OPPOSE bringing S. 744, the Obama – Rubio immigration amnesty bill, to the House floor. Tell them you want border security, not amnesty for illegal aliens.

Your term Illegal Alien is offensive since the people you're addressing are our neighbors to the south. What is alien about them we've been neighbors since the creation of our nations. The Mexican people have lived in this geographical area which includes the southwest region of the US for many centuries. Your efforts to stop this ebb-n-flow of people is pointless. We look the other way when it comes Canadians, which leads us to a logical conclusion "it's racial pure and simple"
Your call is conniving and misleading, there is no immediate amnesty involved you know darn well it's about a 13 year process to accomplish full citizenship.
I call my senators alright but it's to encourage them to vote for immigration reform. I do not agree with your goals

I'm opposed to you and I work against you. The senate just approved the measure because they know they have alienated people like me they know from the last presidential election how badly they lost the hispanic, black and Asian vote. Admit it republicans are out of the mainstream and so are you.

These efforts of yours are no help, you're dying politically that is. This is all a waste of time.
