Bundy Ranch Update: We are willing to give our lives

Bundy Ranch Protest Signs

The showdown at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada is far from over.

What’s more, although the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) says it will "continue to work to resolve the matter administratively and judicially," the federal government’s occupation of the Bundy Ranch caused a great deal of destruction and certainly advanced the government’s goal of driving the Bundy family off their land and out of the ranching business.

Fox News toured the damage -- allegedly caused by the Bureau of Land Management -- which included holes in water tanks and destroyed water lines and fences. According to family friends, the bureau's hired "cowboys" also killed two prize bulls.

"They had total control of this land for one week, and look at the destruction they did in one week," Corey Houston, a friend of rancher Cliven Bundy and his family told FOX. "So why would you trust somebody like that? And how does that show that they're a better steward?"

FOX reports that on a Friday night conference call, BLM officials told reporters that "illegal structures" on Bundy's ranch -- water tanks, water lines and corrals -- had to be removed to "restore" the land to its natural state and prevent the rancher from restarting his illegal cattle operation.

However, the court order used to justify the operation appears only to give the agency the authority to "seize and impound" Bundy's cattle. "Nowhere in the court order that I saw does it say that they can destroy infrastructure, destroy corrals, tanks ... desert environment, shoot cattle," observed Bundy friend Corey Houston.

And it is exactly that kind of bureaucratic arrogance and overreach that has generated a nationwide backlash against the federal government and in support of the Bundy family.

Dover New Hampshire 9-12 activist Jerry DeLemus typifies the grassroots support that Cliven Bundy’s treatment at the hands of an arrogant and over-armed federal bureaucracy has generated.

DeLemus told The Business Insider that he and his son, and his friend “Jack” and his son, drove 41 hours from New Hampshire to Bundy’s Nevada ranch.

After the standoff in which the citizens supporting the Bundys forced the federal bureaucrats and their armed thugs to back down Jerry DeLemus chose to remain in Nevada to stand with the Bundy family.

DeLemus is now leading the 100 strong "militia" protecting the Bundy ranch. To Jerry DeLemus and the other activists who remain, the Bundy ranch standoff is one of their most important fights yet over what they consider to be an oppressive federal government.

While the federal government and Nevada’s Democratic Senator Harry Reid, whose son Rory has a sweetheart deal with a Chinese energy firm that wants the Bundy’s rangeland to build a giant solar farm and panel-manufacturing plant, would like people to think that this standoff is merely about a guy who won’t pay his bills, the activists view the situation in terms of a dispute over states' rights and an oppressive federal government.

The Bundy Ranch standoff was a major topic of conversation among conservative activists last weekend in New Hampshire, where the grassroots groups Americans for Prosperity Foundation and Citizens United hosted the Freedom Summit. It was there that The Business Insider met DeLemus' wife, Susan, who said he had been inspired by "freedom."

"Lawlessness," DeLemus said of the situation. "You look that up in the dictionary, and you'll see the definition of our government right beside it. They all are. Congress, both houses, and the White House."

As we have observed many times, the federal government, especially since the election of Barack Obama, has become the nation’s number one lawbreaker.

Our colleagues, Mark Fitzgibbons and CHQ Chairman Richard A. Viguerie have published a concise pamphlet, “The Law that Governs Government” that details much of this government lawbreaking and reminds us that James Madison, the Father of the Bill of Rights, anticipated this kind government lawlessness in Federalist 44.

Madison said the answer to a lawless government was to elect new leaders who would be faithful to the laws, or in the last extremity to obtain a remedy from the people.

When Jerry DeLemus told The Business Insider "We are willing to give our lives," to protect the Bundy Ranch that’s the beginning of the fight to restore constitutional government in this country and exactly the remedy Madison had in mind.

By the way, you can obtain a free electronic version of “The Law that Governs Government” when you order Richard Viguerie’s new book TAKEOVER through this link.

If they are willing to give their lives, why put the women in the front lines? I don't know if it is strategy approved by Sun Tzu, but I do know it is cowardly!

Bundy Women

For any who watched the videos on You Tube, the women are powerful and courageous. I doubt that any one could have easily stopped them from charging right to the front of the crowd to stand up to the armed agents of the BLM. This is not a case of men cowering behind the women. This is family standing shoulder to shoulder to save their lives and livelihood. This is what inspires us. This is why so many have joined this brave family. They are real, authentic Americans and it makes me proud.

Give me liberty or give me death!

How many of us are willing to offer their lives for the freedoms that our forefathers pledged in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights? How many are ready to lay down their lives for our Creator and Messiah? How many of us have forgotten or laid aside the fact that our families and friends have laid down their lives for this country? We must rededicate ourselves to our God and our country. Join me on this Good Friday and pray for the courage of our ancestors to protect our children and grandchildren.
