Obama Advisor: The Muslim “Caliphate” is Inevitable

Muslim Killings

As usual President Obama and his national security team are trying to play politics with the disaster unfolding in Iraq by ignoring the larger national security implications of the rise and murderous blitzkrieg across northern Iraq by ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham).

But as our friend Dr. Sebastian Gorka observed in an article for Breitbart, the fact is that ISIS “has grown in strength and ferocity in the last three years to a point that it now is more powerful and capable than the original Al Qaeda whence it came. It has become Al Qaeda 2.0. ISIS's growth is in part a result of conscious actions and policy decisions taken by the current US administration.”

As Dr. Gorka noted, Obama built a campaign narrative on the foundation that Afghanistan is the "good war" and Iraq was the "bad war" and locked his administration onto a politically defined track that short-changed America's national security interests. Once in office, Obama was committed to this narrative – that was deemed to have helped him win office.

In Gorka’s analysis, this meant that the Iraqi campaign had to end at all costs. So great was the pressure that the administration was prepared to pull all US forces out in 2011 without securing the standard Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with Baghdad that would have allowed us to leave enough forces in country to suppress and deter violence against the Maliki regime and keep the country functioning after more than 4,000 Americans had died to free it from Saddam Hussein.

We think Dr. Gorka is spot on about the political motivation of Obama’s failed Iraq policy, but that there is more than Obama’s political agenda at work here.

Frank Gaffney of the National Center for Security Policy has spent many years documenting the Muslim Brotherhood penetration of the US government and the Muslim Brotherhood ties of such key Obama administration figures as Hillary Clinton’s close advisor Huma Abedin and Mohamed Elibiary, a noted Islamist serving as a Senior Fellow on the Department of Homeland Security’s Advisory Council.

Elibiary has been particularly unabashed in his promotion of the radical Islamist point of view and posted this very revealing Tweet to his Twitter account on June 13 (hat tip to Kerry Picket for pointing it out): “As I've said b4 inevitable that "Caliphate" returns. Choice only whether we support #EU like Muslim Union vision or not.”

When queried directly through Twitter by David Reaboi, should the US support the creation of the Caliphate as merely an Islamic version of the European Union Elibiary responded “US heading in that direction.”

Back in 2011 Palestinian Media Watch founder Itamar Marcus and analyst Nan Jacques Zilberdik translated a 1995 book by the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood movement’s fifth official leader, Mustafa Mashhur, that sheds light on just how Egypt’s Brotherhood views itself and its mission to realize the creation of the global Caliphate.

“Jihad is the Way” is the last of a five-volume work, “The Laws of Da’wa” by Mashhur, who headed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt from 1996-2002. The book goes into some detail about the Brotherhood’s objectives of advancing the global conquest of Islam and reestablishing the Islamic Caliphate, the public and private duties of jihad and the struggle Muslims must wage against Israel.

In an interview with the Jerusalem Post Marcus spoke about what he views as the danger of downplaying the Brotherhood’s ideology, or expecting it to moderate its objectives after being allowed into the political process. The Muslim Brotherhood movement differs from international terror groups like Al-Qaida, he said, only in tactics, not in its goals.

“The capital of the caliphate – the capital of the United States of the Arabs – will be Jerusalem, God willing,” radical Islamist preacher Safwat Higazi told thousands of Brotherhood supporters at a Cairo soccer stadium for a 2012 rally. “Our capital shall not be in Cairo, Mecca or Medina,” he said, before leading the crowd in chants of “Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.”

As Dr. Gorka and Frank Gaffney have documented, Muslim Brotherhood agents of influence, like Mohamed Elibiary and other “putative ‘representatives’ of the Muslim communities in the US demanded that the White House review and censor all counterterrorism training materials and trainers used by the Defense Department and Department of Justice, their claim being that existing materials and trainers were un-Islamic or ‘Islamaphobic’.”

As a result, says Dr. Gorka, as a government, we have blinded ourselves to such an extent that it has become practically impossible for a national security professional to understand what is going on in the Middle East and what drives groups like ISIS or Al Qaeda without getting into trouble for being politically incorrect.

If the Caliphate is “inevitable” it is only because the Obama administration has, through naïve and foolish political correctness, adherence to a dangerously cynical political agenda – or the penetration of Islamist agents of influence – allowed the Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS to reach critical mass and make it so.
