Richard Viguerie

C-SPAN BookTV will rebroadcast Richard Viguerie's discussion of his book, "Takeover: The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It," at the Eagle Forum Collegians Leadership Summit in Washington, DC, this Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.
This election year brings about important questions for limited government constitutional conservatives. Watch ConservativeHQ chairman and "TAKEOVER" author Richard Viguerie reveal how we fix the broken GOP from the inside, how the midterms will shake out, and who the top conservative candidates are for the 2017 presidential race this Sunday on C-SPAN's Book TV rebroadcast of the 2014 Eagle Forum Collegians Leadership Summit.
Richard Viguerie, the "Funding Father of the New Right," is a pioneer of political direct mail fundraising whose strategies led to the election of President Ronald Reagan, Dave Brat, and many others. Viguerie, called the conservatives' Voice of America, transformed American politics in the 1960s and '70s. Through his use of direct mail Viguerie broke the left's monopoly on the country's microphones, gave the conservatives a voice through the new and alternative media of direct mail, broke the power of large donors by empowering millions of small donors to back the candidates and causes of their choice.
Viguerie's advertising firm, American Target Advertising, has mailed more than 3 billion letters and raised over $7 billion over the past 50 years. He is the author of Conservatives Betrayed: How George W. Bush and Other Big Government Republicans Hijacked the Conservative Cause and "America's Right Turn: How Conservatives Used New and Alternative Media to Take Power" and "The New Right."
