300 Marines Cut Off In Ramadi, So Yes Hillary Benghazi Matters

map of Iraq

Unconfirmed reports in from the Iraqi city of Ramadi, where 300 US Marines are stationed training Iraqi forces, claim that the Marines are cut off and that the Iraqis have lost contact with Al-Asad Airbase where the Marines are stationed.

The news service Reuters contradicts those reports alleging that it is the city of al-Baghdadi that was taken by ISIS on Thursday. Al-Baghdadi is not far from an air base with U.S. Marines, according to Reuters, but not close enough to “cut off” the Marines..

“Al-Baghdadi, about 85 km (50 miles) northwest of Ramadi in Anbar province, had been besieged for months by the radical Sunni Islamist militants who captured vast swathes of northern and western Iraq last year,” said the report.

The facts of the situation on the ground remain unclear as this is being written at 6:00 a.m. Friday morning, but what is clear is that the establishment media has largely ignored the continued ground war and deteriorating military situation in western Iraq. Their lack of interest in reporting anything that contradicts the Obama lies about his failed strategy in the Middle East has hidden from the American public the fact that the radical Islamist forces of ISIS have gotten close enough to Ramadi to bring Al-Asad airbase under fire since January. (A fact even the Obama Pentagon has admitted)

To many Americans this would seem to be the time to quote Marine General Chesty Puller’s alleged comment during the Korean War, "Those poor bastards," he said. "They've got us right where we want them" or perhaps World War II tank commander Creighton Abrams who said "They've got us surrounded again, the poor bastards."

Except American forces in the Middle East aren’t being commanded by men like Puller and Abrams, they are being commanded by Barack Obama from the Situation Room at the White House, or wherever Obama was at the time our consulate in Benghazi came under the attack that ultimately cost four American lives.

Many questions remain unanswered* about what happened on the night Benghazi was attacked that have a direct bearing on what will happen at Al-Asad Airbase if and when it comes under close attack.

Where was President Obama throughout the long night of the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya?

What decisions did the Commander-in-Chief make and what actions did he take while Americans were under assault on foreign soil? Considering that the U.S. embassy in Egypt had already been overrun earlier in the day, and that further attacks on other U.S. facilities were anticipated throughout the night, how involved was the President in tracking the volatile, regional developments?

Who made the decision not to convene the Counterterrorism Security Group during the Benghazi attacks, as required under Presidential directive?

What military assets were available and why weren't military units moved to support consulate personnel?

No doubt if the Marines at Al-Asad Airbase are attacked they will fight with the valor and skill that are the traditions of their Corps – that is unquestioned.

But what remains an open question in the minds of those who have observed Obama’s failing national security strategy in the Middle East is not what the Marines will do, it is what Obama and his advisers will decide to do, and that Hillary, is why Benghazi matters.
