FREEDOM IS A FRAGILE THING

Veterans in Defense of Liberty

 

Our friend Dr. Wm. Scott Magill, Executive Director of Veterans in Defense of Liberty does not send out a lot of email, so when he does we look forward to reading it and his Independence Day message did not disappoint.

Dr. Magill said with clarity and conviction what many, if not most, conservatives we know are thinking:

In the wake of two recent Supreme Court rulings, the latest in a "long train of abuses and usurpations" by our federal government, it is time for honest, informed citizens to acknowledge the death of the United States of America.

Our beloved Republic is no longer the land of the free, nor apparently the home of enough of the brave. The entire basis of our founding – the consent of the governed – has been wiped away by traitors within all three branches of the federal government.

But said Magill, the "winners" in the two cases will soon find this a Pyrrhic victory, for both are, as CS Lewis described such things in The Abolition of Man, a rebellion of the branches against the trees. So desperate were the parties to impose their new morals from the top down on the rest of society, they were willing to destroy any rational basis for the preservation of their own civil society. The decisions required the learned justices do extreme violence to three fundamental building blocks of Western civilization: the Law, the Bible, and the Dictionary.

The Law: Per Chief Justice Roberts regarding the same-sex marriage ruling, "The majority's decision is an act of will, not legal judgment. The right it announces has no basis in the Constitution or this Court's precedent." Five lawyers in Washington have repudiated the voters and nullified the laws of nearly all the states-the very definition of tyranny, judicial or otherwise. Most of the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights, including freedom of speech, religion and association, has been swept aside. All previously encoded fundamental human rights have been trumped by the newly invented right of sexual identity.

The Bible: Again regarding the marriage ruling, five justices threw out thousands of years of Judeo-Christian principles and practice, as well as other majority-embraced religious and moral standards. Rather than citing Leviticus or Romans, here is what Jefferson had to say regarding the freedom of conscience our government has just outlawed, "To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." Americans will indeed find themselves, in countless ways, forced not only to subsidize behavior they abhor, but to promote and celebrate it.

The Dictionary: Regarding the Obamacare ruling, per Justice Scalia, "Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is 'established by the State.'" And so we find ourselves in a new day when those who swear a sacred oath to defend the Constitution have no idea what they're swearing allegiance to, because a judge may decide next year or next week that it all means something quite different than the authors plain words indicated.

All of this said Dr. Magill confirms the warning of Ronald Reagan: "Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again." The Great Communicator also warned that if we fail in this duty, "one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

The sad day President Reagan predicted appears to have come, said Dr. Magill, but we are truly blessed to live in these times. Blessed because we are entrusted with the future, not only of our great Constitutional Republic but with the future of humanity.

In the words of Samuel Adams, "It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.

We are, and must be, that tireless minority, the Sheep Dogs, the defenders of the Constitution.

For when the wolf attacks he will find that not all who run with the flock are sheep.

Freedom is Fragile

The state we now find ourselves in , as a country , did not happen in the last few months or years , nor via a single or number of previous administrations . It has been an ongoing effort to destroy our Republic nearly since its' founding . I urge everyone to , not only support sites such as this , but check out a couple of other sites for verifiable historical information . One I absolutely recommend is , "National Liberty Alliance" , where you can get comprehensive information necessary to understand exactly how and what happened to our precious country , as well as how to fight to regain our rightful freedoms and rights .

I would also recommend you read "The Great American Adventure" by Judge Dale . That writing gives you the condensed version as to how we got to where we are now and who did the most damage .

Game over?

Perhaps it is time to emigrate? If so, you should pay careful attention to those places suggested in Forbes magazine a couple of years ago. It is interesting that according to Forbes, the best places to live tend to be those European countries which (ironic for Mr. Flat Tax) have the highest tax structure. Apparently a good thing is worth paying for.
