The ousting of LTG Michael Flynn as President Trump’s national security advisor was the closest thing to a political assassination the United States has witnessed in a long time. And it had profound political and policy implications for the new Trump administration, particularly as it relates to the administration’s vision of who the enemy is in the war Islam has declared on America and the West.
The difference between a Flynn influenced administration and one informed by other views was on stark display during President Trump’s recent meeting with Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to Bloomberg News a senior advisor to the prince summarized part of the conversation with President Trump this way; “President Trump expressed his deep respect for the Religion of Islam, considering it one of the divine religions that came with great human principles kidnapped by radical groups.”
And later in the statement the unnamed advisor said:
Prince Mohammed Bin Salman expressed, after the meeting, his satisfaction with the positive attitude and clarifications he heard from President Trump about his stance on Islam, which runs against what the media promoted about the President, stressing that his Excellency President Trump has an unprecedented and serious intention to work with the Muslim World and to achieve its interests and that Prince Mohammed considers his Excellency as a true friend of Muslims who will serve the Muslim World in an unimaginable manner…
Of course one would not expect President Trump to go out of his way to insult the prince, but the phrase, “kidnapped by radical groups” sounds all too much like the misguided and unsound understandings of Islam voiced by Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
It was President George Bush who first said, “Our enemy doesn’t follow the great traditions of Islam. They’ve hijacked a great religion.”
And it was Barack Obama who said, “They’re terrorists. And we are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”
The problem with the statements and policies of Presidents Bush and Obama is that they are the exact opposite of reality.
The Muslim enemies of constitutional liberty haven’t “kidnapped,” “perverted” or “hijacked” Islam; they are following its tenets to the letter.
In many articles, such as “Is This What Obama Meant By ‘Perverted’ Islam’?” and "Philadelphia's Jim Kenny: Having A Mayor Like This Could Get You Killed" we pointed out that the war the Islamic State and al Qaeda are waging against America and the West is being conducted according to the precise principles of warfare set forth in Quran.
The Quran states in Sura 4:89, "Those who reject Islam must be killed. If they turn back (from Islam), take hold of them and kill them wherever you find them."
And also in 2.216, "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not."
And just to make it clear to those who think Islam has been perverted, hijacked or kidnapped, Mohammad says in Sura 4:76, "Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…"
In summary, the Quran directs observant Muslims to fight and kill non-believers something like 500 times, and by way of contrast, the New Testament directs Christians to the same path how many times?
There’s no kidnapping, hijacking or perversion of Islam in what’s going on in Islam’s war with us, it’s all there and in graphic terms that cannot be misunderstood or taken out of context.
And the Saudis have a primary role in it, even though they rarely get caught in any act that directly ties them to direct violence against America.
One of the primary tools of Islamic warfare is “hijra” or invasion via immigration and the Saudis are major funders of the silent invasion of the United States by the anti-constitutional forces of Islam.
While hard figures are elusive, estimates are that the Saudis fund up to 80% of American mosques, at least in part. And their goal is the same here as it is elsewhere in the world where Islam must compete with other religions: to prevent Muslims from integrating into the host society.
As our friend Daniel Pipes has documented, the Saudi monarchy has spent globally an estimated US $100 billion to spread its Wahhabi version of Islam. Products of Saudi-funded Wahhabi schools and mosques have often been incited to political violence against non-Muslims.
The Saudis have been arrogantly indiscreet about spending to promote Wahhabism – what they consider to be the purest form of Islam.
For example, says Pipes, a 2005 Freedom House report reviewed some of the extremist literature provided to the public by Saudi-funded institutions and concluded that it poses “a grave threat to non-Muslims and to the Muslim community itself.” The monarchy has also given multiple and generous grants to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the most aggressive and effective Islamist organization in the United States.
Let’s contrast the idea that Islam has been “kidnapped,” “perverted” or “hijacked” with what General Flynn said back in August of 2016:
"We are facing another 'ism,' just like we faced Nazism, and fascism, and imperialism and communism," Flynn said. "This is Islamism, it is a vicious cancer inside the body of 1.7 billion people on this planet and it has to be excised."
Mike Flynn was clear-eyed about the threat Islam poses to constitutional liberty and America’s Judeo-Christian culture. Whoever conned President Trump into saying that he thought Islam has been “kidnapped by radical groups” did so by failing to tell him, as Mike Flynn would have, that he was meeting with a representative of one of the chief kidnappers – the Wahhabis of the Saudi royal family.
