Conservative Outsider Senate Candidates Breaking Fundraising Records

The victory of Judge Roy Moore over Mitch McConnell-backed incumbent Senator Luther Strange in the Alabama Republican Senate primary runoff has loosed a tidal wave of enthusiasm among grassroots conservatives for other heartland outsider candidates for the United States Senate.

As we told you in our articles Fed Up Donors Tell GOP Senate Leaders Pass Bills Or Resign and VP Pence’s Chief Of Staff Nick Ayers Is Our New Hero fundraising support for the Republican establishment has begun to Leah Vukmirdry-up due to the failure of Capitol Hill’s Republican leaders to produce on their campaign promises and their stonewalling of the agenda that propelled Donald Trump to the White House.

However, enthusiasm for conservative outsiders is getting stronger by the day.

And along with that enthusiasm has come record-breaking fundraising results for two of the most promising Republican outsiders: Indiana’s Mike Braun and Wisconsin’s Leah Vukmir.

Braun’s campaign committee brought in over $1 million in roughly half the third quarter reporting period, since announcing his candidacy in August.

“Our fundraising success as a campaign is a clear signal that Hoosiers are ready for a leader with private sector experience who can deliver results and make conservative change happen in Washington,” Braun said in a written statement emailed to CHQ.

Braun’s fundraising haul immediately makes his campaign competitive with his primary opponents, two incumbent Congressmen, Todd Rokita and Luke Messer, whose campaigns are seen as being funded largely by the special interest PACs and bundlers who have supported them throughout their years in Washington.

“This campaign will receive support from a combination of grassroots donors and my own resources to ensure we can battle the money flowing from the DC swamp to my opponents. When I go to the US Senate, I will not owe anything to anyone other than the Hoosiers I want to represent,” Braun continued.

In just 24 days of the third quarter reporting period, conservative Leah Vukmir raised nearly $250,000 for her campaign against liberal incumbent Democrat Sen. Tammy Baldwin, her campaign announced last Wednesday.

“The support we’ve received over the first three weeks of our campaign has been overwhelming,” Vukmir said. “I am very thankful for the people who are standing up to help me take my proven conservative record to Washington. As a middle-class nurse, it’s humbling to know so many individuals believe so deeply in our cause that they would put their hard-earned money behind our campaign. I am tremendously thankful.”

“Wisconsinites deserve a senator who will work hard for them and bring some much-needed grit to Washington," she said. "Our senator needs to be someone who will fight for the Wisconsin Way in Washington. That’s why I’m running, and that’s why the momentum behind our campaign continues to grow.”

Outsider Leah Vukmir jumped into the Wisconsin Republican Senate primary on Sept. 7. She previously released a list of prominent members of her finance committee, which is viewable here. She also announced the members of her campaign steering committee, which can be found here.
