Google Discrimination Against Conservatives No Longer A ‘Myth’

Google Discriminates
Our friends at The Daily Caller have confirmed what conservatives have long charged, and what previous research and anecdotal evidence has indicated, Google’s Trust and Safety team manually manipulates various search features to exclude a number of conservative websites including the American Spectator, Gateway Pundit, and Conservative Tribune.

J. Arthur Bloom, Deputy Editor of The Daily Caller, wrote that, despite the company’s denials, documents obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller indicate Google does manipulate its search results manually, contrary to the company’s official denials.

Two official policies dubbed the “misrepresentation policy” and the “good neighbor policy” inform the company’s “XPA news blacklist,” wrote Mr. Bloom, which is maintained by Google’s Trust & Safety team. “T&S will be in charge of updating the blacklist as when there is a demand,” reads one of the documents shared with The Daily Caller.

“The deceptive news domain blacklist is going to be used by many search features to filter problematic sites that violate the good neighbor and misrepresentation policies,” the policy document says according to Mr. Bloom’s reporting.

That document reads that it was, “approved by [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] as of 8/13/2018.” Ben Gomes is Google’s head of search, who reports directly to CEO Sundar Pichai. Pandu Nayak is a Google Fellow, and Paul Haahr is a software engineer, whose bio on Google’s internal network Moma indicates that he is also involved in, “fringe ranking: not showing fake news, hate speech, conspiracy theories, or science/medical/history denial unless we’re sure that’s what the user wants.”

“The purpose of the blacklist will be to bar the sites from surfacing in any Search feature or news product. It will not cause a demotion in the organic search results or de-index them altogether,” reads the policy document obtained by the DC and analyzed by Mr. Bloom.

What that means, says the Bloom article, is that targeted sites will not be removed from the “ten blue links” portion of search results, but the blacklist applies to most of the other search features, like “top news,” “videos” or the various sidebars that are returned as search results.

The revelations in the Bloom article, coupled with the recent Google employee “revolt” against including conservative leader Kay Cole James on the company’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board prove to us that Google’s long-alleged bias against conservatives, or against any non-hard-Left point of view for that matter, is no myth.

Among the internal emails related to the employee “revolt” leaked to The Daily Caller was this gem from software engineer Joëlle Skaf identifying Google’s enormous power and urging that it be used against conservatives:

It is infuriating to see people on this thread give credence to despicable theories just because ‘marketplace of ideas’ or ‘more articulate people’ or whatever else. This is NOT a game. Google has enormous power, power that it frankly seems to not know what to use for. And asking entities like the Heritage Foundation for their opinions on how to use that power is misguided and will not lead an ethical use of AI. … In all cases, Google CONTINUES to show a total lack of leadership on these issues and a total capitulation to the political whims of the moment.

Now, here’s how the employee “revolt” against the inclusion of a conservative on the AI Advisory Board and the discrimination against conservatives in Google Search fit together.

A memo about the blacklist of so-called deceptive news was also obtained by the DC. This document, which describes the process by which a site can be blacklisted for deceptive news, clearly shows that there is a manual component – in other words, people like Joëlle Skaf get to decide what is “deceptive” news and what isn’t.

The document indicates that there is, among other things, a “manual review tool” involved in maintaining the blacklist – in other words, people like Joëlle Skaf get to use the tool to eliminate or downgrade search results they arbitrarily decide are “deceptive” news.

For the record, The Daily Caller review of the Google internal documents found that on the blacklist are a number of conservative sites, including Gateway Pundit, Matt Walsh’s blog, Gary North’s blog “,” Caroline Glick’s website, Conservative Tribune, a property of The Western Journal, as well as the website of the American Spectator, one of the oldest and most respected journals of conservative opinion.

“You can’t trust the human judgment of Google’s Trust and Safety team,” said a source at Google with knowledge of their practices. If that didn’t come through loud and clear from the Google internal memos, the plain words of Google employees Joëlle Skaf, Meredith Whittaker, Nina-Marie Amadeo, Irene Knapp and Emily Metcalfe should confirm it and send a chill down the spine of every person in any country who values the principles of free expression, religious liberty and freedom of association.

Media corruption & bias

All forms of media can and do act as "pure propaganda outlets" based on the makeup of it's ownership and management. They do it in two ways by "inclusion" and by "omission". It seems that omission is the preferred method because it leaves no "smoking gun" that can be collected and positively exposed. It's called "CENSORSHIP" which IS the favorite tactic of the liberal Left / Progressives / communists, AKA Facebook, Google etc. etc. etc. This kind of societal takeover was predicted decades ago by true conservatives only to be ignored by the very people who claim to represent the American citizens that pay their atrocious salaries and benefits. That would be Congress fo the ill informed.

“She, she is dead; she’s dead: when thou know’st this, Thou know’st how lame a cripple this world is.” ~ John Donne.
In the last few years journalism has reached a new low and most probably needs to be redefined, because it is no longer objective and has become extremely biased and opinionated and it has become this way not in a slow gradual manner but in a greatly political and radically rapid transformation.
Media these days looks for the worst in everything and looks to blame, it has become a bigger part of the problem than any part of the solution it could have ever been. It has gone from informing and guarding us from the evils of big government to lies and deceit to protect that big government and not us.
It has become a tool of the crooked to shape and warp the thoughts and opinions of both friend and foe alike. It has become the very type of lobbying force it used to proclaim to the all that it was against, it has become in no small way in all effect a major force of hypocrisy in this country, in fact the greatest hypocrisy of the age. No other industry or field has changed so radically against itself as has journalism; and it does not appear to be a trend but a reshaping of its very core principles that will not in any times soon change, and for this I mourn.
I mourn for the greatest victim of this change the one thing that has suffered the most for it, the now scarred and suffering target of all this stunning and hurtful metamorphosis is the truth.
Like the comic book character Superman, the press for the longest time in its history protected "Truth, Justice & the American way” but sadly that is no longer the case, we can no longer count on the media (I cannot in any good conscience refer to it as "our" media any longer) to provide the objective and truthful information we need in order to make the necessary decisions in our lives that it once helped us to do.
Now with malice and definite forethought, it attempts to trick us and lure us with false words and misrepresentation, it has gone from lifting the truth to spewing garbage, it has become our worst nightmare and enemy. We no longer have a place to look for true objectivity as we once did. Where we once had an outlet of information untainted by the other forces against us in this world, we now have those same forces directing the information we receive, we can no longer trust that outlet, and it is as dead to us as its once prided objectivity is to itself. Good bye Dear Friend Rest in Peace.
