Santorum Makes Gracious Exit, Romney Must Still Convince Conservatives

Rick Santorum today proved that, while some politicians talk about family values, he lives them.  Rick’s gracious announcement that he is suspending active campaigning for the Republican nomination for President was a disappointment to the millions of movement conservative voters who share his principled conservative positions.  His choice to suspend his campaign after “prayer and thought” over this past weekend will also spare his family the toll that a summer of scorched earth campaigning against uphill odds would inevitably entail.

Santorum ExitsNaturally, conservative voters in states like Texas, North Carolina, Indiana and West Virginia who have yet to be heard from were counting on Rick Santorum to take their message all the way to the Republican National Convention in Tampa.  His commitment to continue the fight for their issues keeps their hopes for a platform based on conservative principles alive.

To date Mitt Romney has spent about $100 million to drive the conservative candidates from the field, in some cases through vicious personal attacks.  However, he has spent little effort making the case for his own candidacy to grassroots movement conservatives.

The first great challenge facing Republicans is whether or not Mitt Romney can heal the wounds created by his negative campaigning.

The grassroots movement conservative voters who powered the Santorum campaign can not be taken for granted.  During the 2006 congressional elections some 4 million conservative voters stayed home, producing one of the biggest defeats for the Republican Party in the modern era.

The next step is up to Mitt Romney. Romney is seriously behind with committed conservative voters, to catch up he must make the case that he merits the support of movement conservatives and that a Romney administration, if elected, can and will produce conservative government.

Drop the handle

Conservatives must release their grip on the GOP handle and let automatic kill-switch engage--shut down the machine.  Romney's one term as governor of Massachusetts was the beta version of Obama's first term.  "Past performance is indicative of future results," according to a reliable truism.  The meme that nothing could be worse than Obama is just foolish.  Eight years of liberal Romney with a lap-dog Congress and CINO press would be far worse than even the Bush years.  Four more years of Obama with an aggressively conservative Congress could be survivable.  There will never be conservative change until the GOP Establishment is de-activated. Whether that happens internally or by forming another party really matters not.  But it needs to start with this election.

Your being lied to

The media is bought and paid for they will not share the truth with you.

Romney won't win over Conservatives..

Romney has never given the Tea Party the time of day. He is a CINO...Conservative in name only.

I'll not vote for him either. I don't care what he says or does. The GOP-E has really stepped in it this time.

I miss Rick already. We need him to stand with us.

There's still a conservative in the race

Ron Paul is just as conservative as Santorum was, it's just that instead of telling everyone how Christian he is, Ron Paul shows it by living a good Christian life.  Santorum was a good family man, and I sincerely hope his daughter gets better.  I personally thought he'd stay in the race until the end. But Conservatives shouldn't settle for Romney just because Santorum left the race.  Ron Paul has a better chance against Obama in the general election than Romney, and Dr. Paul is still right in the running with recent delegate wins in Maine, Iowa, Missouri, Alaska and Washington.  Romney has nowhere near the delegate lead the media and the GOP establishment would like you to think!  We still have a chance to get a true conservative into the oval office - the Ron Paul supporters gladly welcome the Santorum supporters to vote for the last remaining conservative candidate!

No More RINOs

Too many bpeople know that Santorumm is just another RINO. Now if they could figure that out about Romney an Newt.

Time to Work together

Lets look at the facts by popular votes this election

Mitt Romney--4.6 million conservative votes

Rick Santorum--3.2 religious conservative votes

Newt---2.2 million debate conservative votes

Ron Paul--1.2million constitutionally conservative votes

What does this tell us? We have a party that is conservative by nature but disagrees with itself on independent subjects. We need to be a party of solutions not the party of division. I would purpose to you, that you need to start writing of our common goals and not our differences. Your forum here can be to unite, but instead you insight. We have a leader who likes to create division our present POTUS. I would ask you since our candidate looks clear that you start to use your words to unite this party for the good of our children. Not our own personal opinions. We have a responsibility to them to make this a better place than which we got it and i believe your articles do serve some good mostly but sometimes you try to push a certain agenda. Now is the time, this is the place, for all of us to come together and unite as one or rather we stand divided and fall. History does prove itself united we'll stand but divided we will surely fall. I will forward to your future posts, positive posts about our parties candidates are much more productive than negative attacks on our representatives. We are all conservatives only each in our own way as the votes prove to you, the question is how do we bring all of us together to defeat the most liberal president we have every had

Huffington Post description off Romney s MA healthcare bill dealing with abortion.

He pointed to a fact-sheet ARTL put together noting that Romney was responsible for appointing three members to the ten-member Connector Authority board. Gruber countered, in an interview with The Huffington Post several weeks ago, that when the abortion issue was discussed, Romney was out of office and his appointees were off the board.

Rick Santorum's decision to withdraw from the presidential race

I am afraid I will not be voting for a presidential candidate unless Rick Santorum changes his mind.  A person cannot say he is for or against something and then vote the other way.  This is how Mitt Romney and so many others are.  Rick Santorum  is the way he lives and lives what he says.  Rick is right when he states that Mitt Romney is the worst person we could nominate to go against Back O'Bama; he perhaps even worse than him.  Mitt and O'Bama have done more than morally decay our country through homosexualityand abortion legislation; they are parts of the same 'wheel' that will take us further from  the will of GOD.  erhaps our country does not have enough Christian minded people who have decided to turn this country around and toward one that desires to please GOD.

You need

To rally behind Paul, especially if Rick endorses the one he says is the worst one to vote for.

We can still stop Romney but people have to stop stubornly ignoring Paul because they bought into the lame stream media who has been selling out the American people for years. He has been fighting for your rights for nearly 30 years, how about fighting with those of us who have fighting against this corruption since before Bush.

He has the most sane fiscal policies of them all, in fact he is the only sane one. The only thing the media has been able to paint him with is his stance on foreign policy which they misrepresent to turn people away from actually looking into him and learning the truth.

He has the strongest self defense policy of them all, that is why he has more military support than ALL the other canidates and Obama COMBINED. It is a lie when talking heads in the media claim he would the terrorists attack us, he wrote a bill to send a special unit of marines to kill Bin Laden, which nearly none of the warhawks in congress back because if he were killed they wouldnt have their boogie man to incite endless and costly wars.

Pauls stance is simple, congress declares war with guidlines for victory, we go in fast and hard then it is over he would get it done in days-weeks rather than 10 years and trillions wasted.

Exactly!

If the Santorum supporters back Paul, then he has a great chance of winning the nomination!

Enthusiasm

I was at a Tea Party meeting yesterday evening. There wasn't any great enthusiasm for Mitt Romney. There was tremendous enthusiasm for getting him elected President so that we don't suffer another four years under Barrack Obama.

Santorum

Why?  Are conservatives going to vote for Obama?  At least because Romney has no convictions, when pushed he'll allow for personal liberty.

Santorum

I am beyond disappointed. Obama will not get my vote. Romney will not get my vote.

Guess I won't vote.

The real question

Is will Santorum go back on all he has said, that Romney is the worst one out of all the canidates that anyone could support and prove he is all talk or stand behind the only real conservative left which is Paul.

Paul has FAR more support than the media is willing to admit, his townhall meetings are ALWAY far far larger than any of the other candidates. In UCLA some estimates are as high as 10,000, let put that in perspective Ronmeys are usually in the few hundred range and has broken 1,000 once that I know of.  Pauls are always soldout standing room only and between 3,000 and 10,000. Keep in mind Romney has been drawing larger groups than everyone but Paul.

Also keep in mind that the GOP is actively cheating and breaking their own rules to try and control Pauls growth that they can not stop.

And of course

Ron Paul's family values are also unimpeachable, having been married to the same woman his entire adult life with a fistful of children (most physicians as well), and a whole passel of grandchildren that compose a highly tight-knit family. Gingrich not so much, of course, and Romney, with all his advertising and all his speechifying, has yet to say anything that would convince anybody that he would not be a continuation of the Obama presidency just as the Obama presidency has been a continuation of the Bush presidency. Real conservatism, lest we forget, means LESS government, LESS spending, and also, until just this election cycle, less inteventionalism. Bush, remember, was elected on nearly the identical platform that Paul espouses. The only trouble was that he, like Obama, was lying the whole time and did not live up to any of his campaign promises. Paul, a man of such integrity and consistency that even in a campaign season his opponents cannot find a way to attack his record, at least can be trusted, which is more than can be said about any of the others. How about some honesty in Washington, just for a change?

Now is not the time to concede the nomination
