An open petition to the world (like the Declaration of Independence) to President Obama, the leadership and members of Congress, and the national media.
It has been a year and a half since U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed by an assault weapon deliberately handed to Mexican drug lords by U.S. officials carrying out “Operation Fast and Furious.” Several hundred Mexicans have also been killed by these deliberately untraceable weapons.
And we still have no answers as to how and why this shameful travesty took place. This is a crime far worse than anything that took place in Watergate. No lives were lost in the Watergate Hotel burglary.
We demand answers. NOW!
To President Obama:
You promised us transparency in your presidency. Instead we get Nixonian stonewalling. What are you hiding? We demand an immediate release of all documents relating to “Operation Fast and Furious.”
To the Leadership and Members of Congress:
When the President stonewalls and is hiding something obviously illegal and against American traditions of honor, it is up to Congress to get the facts. We demand that you do that NOW. Do not wait until after the November election. The American people deserve and need to know the facts before they cast their ballot on November 6. We demand an immediate and full investigation, open to the public.
To the National Media:
You, the traditional television and print media (the “old media”), have been part of the coverup. The only exceptions have been CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson and Townhall’s Katie Pavlich, and for her efforts Ms. Attkisson was screamed and cussed at by White House spokesman Eric Schultz. The rest of you stood silent. If it were not for the persistent efforts of the “new media,” like bloggers, we would still be totally in the dark about the very existence of “Operation Fast and Furious.”
This is shameful and negligent conduct, and demonstrates why fewer and fewer Americans rely on you each year for their news. We demand that you stop your stonewalling on this scandal. Investigate it fully and demand the same accountability of President Obama that you demanded of President Nixon.
