Yesterday’s CHQ poll noted that the recent Republican primary elections have been a mixed bag for conservatives and showed the GOP still had a personality split between small government constitutional conservatism and big government loving big business. 73% of respondents were optimistic and said the GOP is now the Party of small government constitutional conservatives, while 19% said the GOP will always be the Party of big business.
We asked: “How should small government constitutional conservatives interpret the recent primary election results; Is the GOP the Party of big government and big business or small government constitutional conservatism?”
73% said the GOP IS the Party of small government constitutional conservatives, but it will take a few more elections to complete the takeover.
19% said the GOP will always be for big business; small government constitutional conservatives just get lucky and win an occasional primary.
6% said the GOP is a big tent and I vote for any candidate with an “R” by their name.
1% offered no opinion.
