Déjà Vu with Senator Orrin Hatch: Sometimes Conservative, Sometimes Not

The more things change, the more they stay the same with Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
The late Paul Weyrich wrote an April 5, 2004 article for Newsmax reviewing the philosophically erratic actions of Hatch, going all the way back to his election to the Senate in 1976. You can read Weyrich’s insightful article at http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/4/5/115946.shtml
One caveat: The title of the article, “Senator Hatch: Provoking a Split Within Conservatism…Again,” refers to what Weyrich believed at the time would be rival proposed constitutional amendments to protect marriage. As things worked out, perhaps as a result of the article, Hatch co-sponsored the proposal by then-Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO), so there was not a split on this matter. But the rest of the article is right on target.
Since Weyrich’s article, Hatch continued to go from a Ted Kennedy Republican to a conservative hero and back again dozens of times. With him, you never know.
As a result of the 2010 defeat for renomination of fellow Utah Senator Robert Bennett, it is very possible Hatch may be exemplary from now until November 2012.
But if he wins a new 6-year term, what happens after that is anyone’s guess.
Maybe the “bad Hatch” is gone forever and the “good Hatch” will assume control of his persona. As the last line of Weyrich’s article notes, “As long as you are alive, there is always time to change your ways.”
But Hatch’s 35-year career in the Senate suggests otherwise.

He is on both sides of the fence to benefit his personal beliefs, which are Mormon...they feel one day they will have a strong and 'rightful' place in running the nation... That is true of Mitt Romney as well...thus one should weight what he says by the fact he is Mormon.....that said both have the right to be as they choose, however, it is sad that all cannot just look at the Constitution and the Founding Fathers principals of faith, truth, freedom, liberty and honor when in office. Of Course, that would be too easy and no one would have to fight for their rights. So be ware of the motives with which hanyone opperates and read up on Mormans and their belief systems..........also the Muslims...we MUST be an informed society from here on out and teach our children, so they will carry on the Founding principals of our nation into the future!!!!
"BAD" Hatch
I am of the belief that based on his sad and sometimes phoney performance that Hatch should do this great country and announce that he will retire and not seek reelection in 2012 ! ! ! GOD BLESS AMERICA and we can live without the likes of the "FLIP-FLOPPER" Senator Hatch ! ! ! Many Americans are out there watching and I believe that we will see a flood of candidates seeking office and wanting to replace the "PHONEY" Washington Senators and Representatives that will be seeking to return in 2012! A TIDAL WAVE I predict of CONSERVATIVES that are as sick and tired of the "SAUSAGE MAKING" Washington politicians. I PRAY that there will be a "cleansing" and we will see a renewing of people with standards and principles based on the "founding fathers" ideals of what WE THE PEOPLE would be able to achieve. Hopefully we live to see 2012 without a "THREAT" from the "Muslim Brotherhood" if they seize power in Egypt !
