It'd be absolutely insane for Repubs., who campaigned on fixing Wash., to re-install its leadership that the public & its own base dislikes. It's time for the GOP to actually get different results & vote for a new Speaker.
It's no surprise when most GOP incumbents survive their primaries; incumbency provides big advantages. Any cycle where R's elect Ben Sasse, Joni Ernst, & Cory Gardner to the Senate, & manage to knock off the House maj. leader, is a great year for the Tea Party agenda.
Using a little-known procedure, there is a way. First, see if Judge Jackson secures the IRS documents for Cause of Action. Congress should exercise their unique legal right to review the raw documents without deletions. If stymied, they too should sue.
Can you imagine a Republican Member of Congress who voted for a standalone bill to give your Social Security money to an illegal alien surviving the next Republican Primary election? Neither can I.
A last-ditch push by about 30 R's to convince John Boehner to allow lame-duck action on an online sales-tax measure failed, but those attending the closed meeting said he is promising to revisit the issue early next year, which would enrage conservatives.
The only way to stop Obama from hiring 1,000 new amnesty bureaucrats is to affirmatively prohibit the President from spending the money to hire them and pay them NOW. Unless GOP members of Congress stand NOW for the Constitution, the rule of law and their own campaign promises they deserve a primary challenge in 2016.
“It's Congress’ job to create a uniform rule of naturalization, a way in. It should be done line by line, section by section with the input of the public instead of being done by one person. It looks more like a dictatorship when a president is unilaterally making decisions for the Amer. people.”
Republicans would be better off if they spent more time figuring out how to use a legislative veto (and funding a constitutional gov't worth funding), and less time making idle threats.
Reporters celebrated a congressional Benghazi report that supposedly debunked criticism of the Obama administration. It didn’t. Not by a long shot.
The GOP not only has a strong political reason to fight Obama on executive abuse, they have a constitutional responsibility, as well.
If the big shutdown didn't damage GOP prospects just 12 months later, would a tightly limited defunding battle be such a problem?
Gov. Chris Christie encouraged the GOP's newest members of Congress to embrace compromise and common ground as they shift to a governing role following their party's midterm rout.
Based on his subversive actions, by definition Barack Obama is indeed making war against America, and it’s high time Congress responded by declaring their own war.
"There's got to be more productive ways for us to be able to impress on the president the need to work for a permanent solution, as opposed to a temporary solution. Obama should allow Congress a chance to pass legislation on immigration," Romney said.
It would be a shame for either the House or Senate to give up on the earmarks ban, particularly when outrage over Repub. behavior related, in part, to corruption induced through earmarks led to their devastating losses in '06.
There’s only one thing that conservatives who worked to give the Republican Party its new majority in Congress need to know: A vote for a long-term spending bill is a vote for amnesty. It’s as simple as that.
