The House votes today on #Ryancare. In his desperation to maintain federal government control of the health insurance and health care markets establishment Republican Speaker Paul Ryan is turning more and more to the ugly corruption of the Democrats’ former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. We urge CHQ readers to contact their Representative to demand they vote NO on this corrupt disaster.
Mr. Reid’s leadership changed the Senate dramatically but often carelessly. The upper chamber had traditionally been collegial, high-minded, cautious. During Mr. Reid’s tenure as majority leader from 2007 to 2015, it became more like the House. There was less time for serious floor debates and amendments. Decorum suffered. So did bipartisanship.
What is striking about this is that no Democrat will ever say squat to Harry Reid about this vile slander of a woman who lost her son to monumental incompetence. There will be no talk of giving a grieving parent room to express their grief. This is for the simple reason that with the Democrats human decency extends only to the extent that they can club their opponents with it.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid added his name to a growing list of liberal Democrats who would love to see Paul Ryan take over in the House. Reid described himself as a “Paul Ryan fan.” Reid didn’t seem to care if his endorsement would help or hurt Ryan’s bid.
After establishment Republican leaders and Democrats refused to allow Ted Cruz the courtesy of a roll-call vote on his motion to end taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and the Iranian nuclear deal Cruz delivered a powerful speech on the Senate floor highlighting the many examples of Republican leadership surrendering to President Obama’s demands, and reminding the Republican Party’s Capitol Hill leadership to keep their promises to the American people.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the felony conviction of Harvey Whittemore, a big financial supporter of Sen. Harry Reid.
Fact: The Cruz-Lee point of order bought Reid 10 hours worth of floor time on Sat. There's no way Reid would've let over 24 important nominees just die for the sake of going home Tues. instead of Weds. or Thurs. Stop blaming Cruz.
Instead of focusing on O’s unlawful amnesty, some in the GOP went so far as to accuse Cruz and Lee of helping Reid confirm Obama's radical nominees. What Cruz & Lee did was stand up for those who are tired of the status quo.
Although the estab. talking points blame Ted Cruz & Mike Lee for Reid’s “opportunity” to get these nominations approved, it was always Reid’s plan to get as many through the system before control of the Sen. is turned over to the R's.
The big winners in the tax extenders bill are the business lobbyists who cash in every year flacking for the US Chamber, tech community, wind energy, NASCAR and other K St. hustlers who ensure even the most obscure loop holes get renewed.
Reid asked all to pass the spending bill by Sat. The Sen. voted on a 2-day stop-gap funding measure. He wants to pass a defense bill, tax extenders, a terrorism insurance bill & confirm some nominees.
The omnibus spending bill from John Boehner and Appropriations Committee chairman Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) contains a blatant handout to the travel—specifically casino—industry, something that benefits Harry Reid.
A serious, full statement on what Reid did and why the response has to roll out over 4 years serves both the institution, the base, and the goal of finely moving to take control of the narrative and establish a framework through which the actions of the next 2 years will be understood.
Republicans are split over whether to change the Senate’s rules to allow filibusters on executive and judicial nominations.
Harry Reid & Mitch McConnell want to craft a lame-duck agreement that allows his party to claim some victory. Reid & McConnell may agree to move a bloc of noncontroversial nominees. But any Dem. bundlers or other political patrons Obama wants to reward will get blocked.
The Obama -- Reid plan is simple: Bring Congress back into session, quickly pass a bill to fund the government for the next ten months, deprive Republicans of the power of the purse and then have from the moment the bill passes until the absolute last minute before the new Congress is sworn in to confirm liberal judges and implement Obama's lawless "Executive Amnesty."
Congratulations. The Constitution is battered and on life-support, but had enough in it last night to allow We the People to reject Obama's imperial lawlessness and constitutional lawbreaking. Now limited government constitutional conservatives must hold Republicans to the agenda that got them elected.
Harry Reid is warning that if Repub. Joni Ernst wins her bid for an open U.S. Senate seat in Iowa, the Dems will lose their majority in the Senate. “She’s [Ernst] so far to the right that I’m sure many parts of the right wouldn’t like what she’s talking about,” he added.
