Ruling Edges Same-Sex Marriage Closer to SCOTUS

The first ruling by a fed. appeals court that states cannot prevent gay couples from marrying makes it more likely the SCOTUS will ultimately have to make a decision it has so far avoided: do states have the ability to prohibit same-sex marriage?

New Mexico Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Bosson said Elaine and Jonathan Huguenin “are compelled by law to compromise the very religious beliefs that inspire their lives,” as “the price of citizenship.” We say if you are compelled to work against your will or to provide your talent or artistry against your will you are truly a slave.
