DOJ asks judge to halt immigration ruling, seeks appeal

The government appealed to U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen, who ruled last week that Texas and 25 other states have the standing to sue the Obama administration. Government lawyers argue that Hanen not only lacked the authority to issue an injunction against the executive actions, but also said stopping the program would "harm the interests of the public and of third parties who will be deprived of significant law enforcement and humanitarian benefits of prompt implementation."
