Rep. Jim Bridestine, R-Okla., flew combat missions over Afghanistan and Iraq in an E-2C radar-warning plane. He asked Secretary of Defense Ash Carter if the Obama Pentagon really believed the truck drivers hauling oil for ISIS were ignorant of who they were working for. “It’s quite frankly, astonishing,” he said, “if we’re trying to win.”

Ted Cruz scored a major coup over the weekend when he picked-up the endorsement of principled limited government Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine. Bridenstine says "Beating Hillary Clinton requires a Republican nominee who will energize all elements of the Republican Party: fiscal conservatives, national security conservatives, values voters, and constitutional conservatives" and Ted Cruz is the candidate to do it.

We are inclined to agree with Rep. Jim Bridenstine’s point that Congress’s core constitutional responsibility is to provide for the common defense.  But the record of congressional Republicans on exercising oversight of the Pentagon and spending is thin at best.
