Call Congress Today: Protest This Atrocious Spending Bill!

By Richard A Viguerie, CHQ Chairman

FLASH UPDATE: President Trump says he is considering vetoing the Omnibus. You may contact the White House through this link to urge him to veto this outrageous attack on the conservative -- populist agenda that elected Donald Trump President.

In another middle-of-the-night sneak attack on America, the leaders of the Uniparty, RINO Senator Mitch McConnell and Far-Left liberal Democrat Chuck Schumer rammed through the $1.3 trillion Omnibus spending bill that no Senator read and few even know what it does. This government by trainwreck will continue unless you get involved.

The Oligarchs’ Counterrevolution

Media and internet near-monopolies and a too big to fail bank, the largest credit card issuer in the country, have joined in another attack on the Second Amendment and brazenly announced their plan to undermine the Constitution to accomplish their goals.

GOP Establishment Throwing Away Majority In Omnibus

We urge CHQ readers to call the toll-free Capitol Switchboard (1-866-220-0044) to ask for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Tell Rep. McCarthy that if he wants to keep his Republican majority in the House there should be no internet sales tax in the omnibus, no funding for Planned Parenthood, no Chuck Schumer earmark for the bloated New York – New Jersey tunnel, no insurance company Obamacare bailout, no Ex-Im bank cronyism, and absolutely no new gun control in this year’s omnibus.

Democrats and RINOs Driving 2018 Omnibus Spending

We urge CHQ readers to call the toll-free Capitol Switchboard (1-866-220-0044) to ask for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Tell Rep. McCarthy there should be no internet sales tax in the omnibus, no funding for Planned Parenthood, no Chuck Schumer earmark for the bloated New York – New Jersey tunnel, no insurance company Obamacare bailout and no Ex-Im bank cronyism in this year’s omnibus.

This Week The GOP Decides Who It Is

The omnibus spending bill, slated to be an eye-popping, Obama-level $1 trillion-plus has become a catchall for practically every spending priority of the Democrats, while calls from conservatives for spending discipline and conservative policy riders have been given the cold shoulder by the House and Senate leadership.

Trump’s Unconstitutional Gun Confiscation Plans

What President Trump's proposal does is violate the Fifth Amendment to make it easier to violate the Second Amendment – a demonstration of just how far afield from the Constitution Republicans will stray when not securely moored to constitutional conservative principles.

Second Amendment In Jeopardy In The House Next Week

Democrats are working with gun-control groups to find a way to politicize the Parkland, Florida killings to their advantage for November's midterm elections. Democrats don’t really want to do anything that will help identify and stop troubled people from killing, they want to milk these tragedies for political advantage and the GOP's squishy Capitol Hill leaders are ready to help them.

Trump's words will fade away, due process will not

Editors, Washington Examiner

The lack of a reaction from most of the Right and the calm rebuttal from the National Rifle Association tell us some things about politics in 2018. We are reminded of how tribalism and party increasingly rise above policy in our fiercest disputes. We are also reminded of the president’s lack of verbal continence. He tends to say things without thinking them through, and his later actions and words often prove divorced from his earlier words. It's dizzying to have a president who is so flippant with weighty words and so detached from any political philosophy. But if we listen close enough, we can see through the fog his words create.

In defense of the right to keep and bear arms

Andrew P. Napolitano, Washington Times

Even after Heller, governments have found ways to infringe on the right to self-defense. Government does not like competition. Essentially, government is the entity among us that monopolizes force. The more force it monopolizes the more power it has. So it has enacted, in the name of safety, the least safe places on earth — gun-free zones. The nightclub in Orlando, the government offices in San Bernardino, the schools in Columbine, Newtown and Parkland were all killing zones because the government prohibited guns there and the killers knew this.

Second Amendment Shows The Limits Of Trump’s Transactional Presidency

As conservatives gathered at CPAC to celebrate a successful first year of the presidency of Donald Trump the President’s response to Nikolas Cruz’s crimes at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School showed the limits of Trump’s commitment to conservative principles and the conservative agenda.

The Second Amendment is a human right — ignorance toward it is troubling

Ned Ryun, The Hill

The ignorance on display regarding the Second Amendment and its history is troubling and is due to the fact that no one really teaches about our rights ensconced in our Constitution. They weren’t pulled from thin air but from the idea of natural law and the concept of human rights endowed by a Creator.

Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle Grassroots Hero And Smart Politician

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle’s vow to kill the $50 million Delta tax break was not only good tax policy, a principled defense of the Second Amendment, and a well-deserved thumb in the eye to Delta’s virtue signaling Leftwing corporate oligarchs, based on the numbers it was also good politics.

Why We Need the Second Amendment More than Ever

Roger L. Simon, PJ Media

The ultimate reason that that amendment came to be was something just as crucial (perhaps more, if that's possible) as personal or family protection -- and I bet almost everyone in that CPAC crowd knew it. It was for the citizenry to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. James Madison and the other Founders proposed we adapt the Second Amendment from British Common Law.  They saw into a future beyond muskets and AR-15s and Glocks and even drones, lasers and whatever else people will use on each other.

Florida School Shooting Reveals Epic Government Failures

While the anti-gun crowd demands that the federal government ban the AR-15 and any other gun that they think looks like an “assault weapon,” what the latest revelations about the government and police failures at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tell us is that, as things stand now, waiting for the police to come and protect you from the next Nikolas Cruz is a death sentence.

Ben Stein Is Not A Gun Guy, But…

Ben Stein is an eminently sensible guy, but like many eminently sensible sounding proposals, his proposal that the United States government should ban the AR-15, and similar so-called “assault weapons,” is a cop-out to avoid fixing the real problem; parents and government officials who ignore and cover for antisocial, near feral, humans like Nikolas Cruz until they kill someone.

Politically Obsessed FBI Misses Real Threats

Too many "known wolfs" have slipped by the FBI to carry out crimes like the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre. It’s time for the FBI headquarters to get over its political obsessions and get back to its basic mission – protecting America from people like Nikolas Cruz.

It is crucial for those who value their Second Amendment guaranteed rights to get on the telephone to call their Representative to urge him or her to support H.R. 38, The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. The Capitol Switchboard is 1-866-220-0044 we urge all CHQ readers to call their Representative TODAY in support of H.R. 38.

Rep. Steve Scalise Survives Assassination Attempt To Destroy Chuck Todd

Mollie Hemingway, The Federalist

The “Meet the Press” host decided to spend the entire aired portion of his interview with the House majority whip pushing gun control. For eight minutes, Todd focused on what he sees as Scalise’s political shortcomings, and badgered him to adopt the views of his political opponents. Scalise, for his part, spent the entirety of the interview making Todd look like the uninformed and naive partisan activist he is.

Another Tradition Never Trump Conservatives Won’t Conserve

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

Take the guns away — that’s as fitting a rallying cry as any for the Never Trump conservatives, whose pompous mutterings about the “conservative movement” concealed a statist elitism that only pretends to oppose the left’s Leviathans but in the end always serves them. Does anyone still wonder why they preferred Hillary to Trump?
