Watergate

Russiagate Is No Watergate

Patrick J. Buchanan, CNS News

During Watergate, Nixon had little support in a city where the elites, the press, the Democratic Congress and the liberal bureaucracy labored in earnest to destroy him. Nixon had few of what Pat Moynihan called "second and third echelons of advocacy." Contrast this with Trump, a massive presence on social media, whose tweets, daily interactions with the national press and rallies keep his enemies constantly responding to his attacks rather than making their case. Trump interrupts their storytelling. And behind Trump is a host of defenders at Fox News and some of the top radio talk show hosts in America. Russiagate is not Watergate, but there is this similarity: Nixon and Trump are both the objects of a truly great hatred.

Obama-Appointed Judge Allows Democrats To Subpoena Trump Business Records

In a ruling that should chill the heart of every American who values his Fourth Amendment rights, Obama-appointed DC District Court Judge Amit Mehta has refused to quash a Democrat subpoena for President Trump’s business records from before he was President. Would he have done the same for a Republican-issued subpoena for Obama's college records, birth certificate and passport records?

Watergate by Any Other Name

Roger Kimball, PJ Media

Asked recently by Fox News host Jeanine Pirro whether he is or has ever been working for Russia, Trump responded, “I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked.” Quite right, too. For the rest of us, though, it’s more than insulting. It’s been going on so long that we are tempted to forget what this travesty really is. Familiarity has bred indifference. It is time that we woke up to the truth. What we have been witnessing is a blatant and nefarious effort to repeal the results of a lawful election and undermine the integrity of our democratic institutions.

The Carnivores of Civil Liberties

Victor Davis Hanson, Investor's Business Daily

Public opinion has radically changed. A majority of Americans believe the Muller investigation is politically motivated, according to a CBS News poll. Already, a few liberals and former Clinton supporters are warning the left that it is on the wrong side of history and about to reverse the entire post-Watergate liberal tradition. There is a reckoning on the horizon. It has nothing to do with Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. Instead, the traditional, self-appointed watchdogs of government overreach have turned into the carnivores of civil liberties.

The Deep State Media Game

Jeffrey Lord, The American Spectator

The Deep State media game afoot here is to protect the Deep State buddies by slow-rolling out the news that affects them negatively — and if possible keeping that news from the public and Congress. But any news that can help sabotage the President? That is to be leaked ASAP. This kind of thing can and — it seems increasingly likely, will — make Watergate look like a piker.

FISA-Gate Is Scarier Than Watergate

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

FISA-gate may become a more worrisome scandal than either Watergate or Iran-Contra. Why? Because our defense against government wrongdoing — the press — is defending such actions, not uncovering them. Liberal and progressive voices are excusing, not airing, the excesses of the DOJ and FBI. Apparently, weaponizing government agencies to stop a detested Donald Trump by any means necessary is not really considered a crime.

Trump Strikes A Blow For The Rule Of Law

The firing of James Comey is a much-needed corrective to the Obama – Comey cult of government by personal whim and an important step toward the reestablishment of the rule of law; it should be applauded by all Americans.

Hillary's Watergate?

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

If Clinton wins this election, and Republicans hold onto one or both houses of Congress, investigations of the Clinton scandals will start soon after her inaugural and will go on for years. And the clamor for a special prosecutor, who will, as Archibald Cox did with Nixon, build a huge staff and spend years investigating, will become irresistible.

What’s the Difference Between Obama and Nixon?

Nixon’s law breaking was small potatoes compared to Barack Obama’s policy of systematically breaking and ignoring the law in pursuit of his radical leftwing agenda. But Obama gets away with it because a spineless Congress refuses to hold him accountable. To sign our petition demanding Congress hold Obama to account for his law breaking click here

Barack Obama is the Richard Nixon of the 21st Century

Barack Obama's arrogance, lies and deceit may bring down a lot of Democrats in 2014, but conservatives must recognize that things won’t change much in Washington if an arrogant, deceitful big government, big spending Democrat like Barack Obama is replaced with an arrogant, deceitful big government, big spending Republican like Richard Nixon.
