Trump's best play: Stand aside and let coal country become gas country
What coal country needs is not a sacrifice of the national economy, but a new focus and perhaps a new name: gas country. The Trump administration can help coal country by fast-tracking permits for pipelines and otherwise facilitating the already-in-progress transition to natural gas extraction. That has already begun without any government interference, such that Appalachia now accounts for more than a quarter of the nation’s natural gas supply and is expected to account for 40 percent in coming decades.

The Left has been relentlessly attacking EPA Director Scott Pruitt in a coordinated media assault because he’s delivering on President Trump’s promise to drain the swamp at the EPA, and breaking the rice bowls of some of the Swamp’s worst liberal vampires in the process.
Coal's Colossal Comeback
Coal isn’t dead in America. It is unleashed. As a Washington Times editorial put it very well recently, “The left gave up on the 100,000 coal workers in America more than a decade ago. Donald Trump has not.” Remember this the next time Elizabeth Warren or Nancy Pelosi lecture us about how much they care about the working class in America.
