deauthorize the Ex-Im Bank

Export-Import Bank ends operations as Congress failed to reauthorize

Andrew V. Pestano, UPI

The Export-Import Bank of the United States will end operations tonight as Congress failed to reauthorize its charter before the July 4 recess. The bank will not be able to arrange new loans for the first time since it was implemented 81 years ago. Democrats and a few Republicans are attempting to renew the bank's charter, which could see the bank's rebirth by late July.

The Ex-Im Bank And The Art Of Picking Losers

In an op-ed in Forbes magazine our friends at “American Transparency” ask the question every Member of Congress should ask and answer before voting on the reauthorization of the corrupt Export-Import Bank: "How is bankrolling of dictators, subsidizing authoritarian regimes, propping up green energy and destabilizing entire industries good for growth?" Please join the leaders of over 50 conservative organizations by signing the conservative letter to Congress demanding that your Representative and Senators let the Export - Import Bank expire on June 30, 2015.

Right and Left Coming Together to Defeat Corrupt Crony Ex-Im Bank

The establishment media has largely ignored the story, but there is an important trend developing in national politics and policy debates; the emergence of more than occasional alliances of conservative and liberal populists. The latest Right-Left populist policy alliance to emerge is between conservative and liberal opponents of the Export-Import Bank reauthorization, and yesterday afternoon our conservative friends at The Club for Growth announced the release of a TV ad aimed at Florida Democrats.

Big Business Loses Ex-Im Bank Argument – Starts The Threats

As the clock ticks toward the June 30 expiration of the Ex-Im Bank’s charter, the beneficiaries of this corrupt remnant of the New Deal have started issuing warning that they would move production overseas if Congress doesn’t reauthorize their hand out. Please join the leaders of over 50 conservative organizations by signing the conservative letter to Congress demanding that your Representative and Senators let the Export - Import Bank expire on June 30, 2015.

GOP Leadership Ready to Let Ex-Im Bank Expire? Don’t Cheer Just Yet.

House Republican leaders remain squishy on killing this corrupt remnant of the New Deal, and there are plenty of establishment Republicans, privately and publicly, who say leaders have an obligation to give them a vote on the reauthorization of the Ex-Im Bank -- a vote that, with the help of Democrats, would likely pass.  Please join the leaders of over 50 conservative organizations by signing the conservative letter to Congress demanding that your Representative and Senators let the Export - Import Bank expire on June 30, 2015.

The Peculiar Uses of Taxpayer's Ex-Im Bank

Mark Pfeile, Special to The Wall Street Journal

Only in Washington can a prominent example of corporate welfare be described as a “critical element” of America’s national security. That’s exactly what former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of Defense William Cohen and 10 other former federal officials claimed in a recent letter to Congress, in which they pleaded with lawmakers to renew the Export-Import Bank’s charter before it expires in June. In recent years, the bank has come under fire from politicians as diverse as Barack Obama and Paul Ryan, who have rightly noted that Ex-Im’s support mainly benefits a few multinational companies. Those same companies are now working to convince Congress to keep the taxpayer cash flowing.

Tea Party groups unite against Export-Import

Kevin Cirilli, The Hill

More than 50 conservative groups sent a letter to lawmakers on Monday urging them to not to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank. Congress is grappling with whether to reauthorize the bank's charter, which is set to expire on June 30 unless Congress votes to extend it. The letter is perhaps the most cohesive effort to date on behalf of Tea Party groups in opposing the bank.

Conservatives Build Case For Closing Corrupt Ex-Im Bank

Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling and Congressman Jim Jordan have been among the driving forces in Congress for ending the cronyism and abuses inherent in the government managed trade model the Ex-Im Bank represents. But they can’t do it alone. We urge you to join CHQ, The Club for Growth, Americans for Prosperity and other conservatives opposed to this shameful example of crony government.
