Progressivism and the Myth of Human Progress

Timothy Daughtry, Townhall

There is nothing advanced or progressive about the temptation for people to seek political power to impose their will upon others. The pages of human history are stained with innocent blood as a result, with over 100 million people dying at the hands of their own government in the last century. And there is no way to measure the misery suffered by those who survived but whose rights were trampled by government in other ways. Our Constitution limits governmental power and distributes it broadly to protect the rights of our citizens against power-hungry people.

The Continued Resilience of Quiet America

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

Fifty years later, what are the lessons of the chaotic year 1969 for our similarly schizophrenic age of polarization, civil disunity, and unprecedented wealth and scientific advancement? America is such a huge and diverse country, and so abundantly endowed with natural and human resources, that it is capable of achieving unprecedented scientific, economic, and technological breakthroughs even as its social fabric is tearing apart. Or, put another way, while the media highlights crime, protests, grievances, and civil disorder, a majority of Americans still go to work unbothered each day.

The Left’s Racist Insanity

We see in the debate over whether Will Smith is dark enough to play Richard Williams that the Left’s long-term effort to divide America along racial and ethnic lines is rapidly reaching its logical conclusion in which “colorism” is now to be added to race and ethnicity to become a dividing determinant.

Targeting young hearts, minds with leftist children's books

Charles Hurt, Washington Times

Welcome to the newest frontier of political indoctrination: Children’s books. Bookstores these days are stacked with hyperpartisan propaganda aimed at stealing the minds of our youngest, though not necessarily our most impressionable. Award for “most impressionable” apparently goes to anybody running for the Democratic presidential nomination and usually pertains to whatever was the latest goofball idea to tumble out of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s mouth. All the lefties are peddling political playbooks to children.

Changing Reality with Words

Victor Davis Hanson, Washington Times

The reinvention of vocabulary can often be more effective than any social protest movement. Malarial swamps can become healthy “wetlands.” Fetid “dumps” are often rebranded as green “landfills.” A liberal Democrat was once someone seen as a free thinker. But “progressive” implies that one is more action-orientated and has an evolutionary agenda, not just a methodology. Beware of euphemisms. Radical changes in vocabulary are usually admissions that reality is unwelcome or indefensible.

The Strange Paradoxes of Our Age

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

The common thread to the paradoxes that we encounter daily is the inconsistency of progressivism itself — or rather its ad hoc adoption of any means necessary to be justified by an anointed end, which is the quest for power and control. Progressivism is not an empirical or coherent creed, but contrary both to human nature and the record of history — in its arrogance that an elite, if only provided with enough money, power, and good intentions, can create heaven on earth rather than hell.

What Will It Take To Make You Understand And Accept That They Hate You?

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

It’s not about race or gender or orientation, but about power – they want to take yours, to strip you of your sovereignty and make you kneel. Their SJW posturing is all a lie and a scam. They don’t care about ending racism, sexism, homophobia, or any of the myriad other -isms and -phobias they blather about. Those poses are just weapons to be used to capture what they really want – total power over you. They seek to shame you into submission, and if that won’t work, then they’ll do whatever it takes.

Top 10 Things Liberals Will Try To Ban Within The Next Decade

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

Liberals are all about freedom…their freedom to tell us Normal Americans what to think, how to feel, and what to do. And the highest form of liberalism is the ban, a bar to an activity, institution, or attitude that they wish to suppress either to enhance their own power or just for the sheer joy of telling people like us – who they hate – what to do. Often, it’s both. These ten targets for prohibition may seem wacky now, but give the left time. “Really?” you might ask. But then, a decade ago everyone knew which bathroom to use, yet here we are.

The Divine Right of Democrats to Drool

David Catron, The American Spectator

Democrats know they can’t disappoint their temperamental constituents or there will be a lot of spinning heads and projectile vomit. If the Democrats accomplish nothing during the next two years beyond a protracted and almost certainly doomed attempt to remove a duly elected President — and that is how at least half the voters see him — they will have revealed to their own voters that they can’t deliver on impeachment while once again demonstrating to the rest of us that they are incapable of governing responsibly. That won’t sell well in 2020.

The War On Trump Is All About Keeping Liberals And Their Lackeys In Power

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

Liberals consider themselves the anointed, divinely entitled to rule over us lesser folk, and they aren’t going to let anything get in the way of retaking the throne. The election of Donald Trump ripped off the mask of our elite. They are no longer pretending to seek anything but their own personal power. And in doing so, they are destroying the United States of America. The liberal elite’s reaction to the infection of conservative populism is like an autoimmune reaction gone out of control. It might well kill the host, but they don’t care. America is expendable. So are you.

Hollywood Gangs up on Roger Ailes

L. Brent Bozell III and Tim Graham, CNS News

The storytellers of Hollywood tend to avoid "monster" movies about their most powerful liberal leaders, whether they run the federal government or merely run television networks. They can't even acknowledge that a movie just came out about a grotesque abortionist named Kermit Gosnell. But they're all eagerly anticipating the "history" of Roger Ailes oozing out with their favorite fake-news sales lingo: "based on real events."

Liberalism Bankrupts the Boy Scouts

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

What did it profit the Boy Scouts to gain the PC world and lose its soul? According to press reports, the Boy Scouts organization, reeling from costly homosexual abuse lawsuits, is “considering” bankruptcy. As once-great institutions teeter under the weight of failed liberalism, you would have to be dumb as a rock to stake their “survival” on even more of it. And yet that is often the counsel given by everyone from Gates and Tillerson to Pope Francis and his hapless bishops. If history has taught us anything, it is that liberalism is not an agent of expansion but an acid that burns through everything it touches.

There’s No Such Thing As A Conservative ‘Blue Dog’ Democrat

The real purpose of the Blue Dog Democrats is not to force Democrats to abandon secular liberalism, but to act as the recruiters or handlers of weak Republicans who can be wooed to support liberal policies through claims of bipartisanship or stymie President Trump in acts of virtue signaling.

What will a post-constitutional America look like?

Dr. William Scott Magill, WND

The leftist collective, which demands all residents participate in this national self-destruction, have in a matter of just a few years flipped the narrative of American exceptionalism on its head. The “unacceptable” election of Donald Trump, through the intercession of Divine Providence, saved America from an envisioned police state that would have been the death knell for our once free and open society. Now it comes down to individuals – each one of us. Will you fight the good fight for freedom, or just complain as America is swallowed into the dark and dismal sordid abyss of socialism?

The Origins of Progressive Agony

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

The catastrophic yet suicidal loss in the 2016 election and the disappointment over the Obama presidency radicalized Democrats. A combative Trump himself certainly enraged them, on a variety of political, social, and cultural levels. When Democrats lost, they realized that they still lived in a Republic and not a volatile Athenian democracy — and found this also hard to take. More exasperating still was the loss of the Supreme Court, the last bastion of elite brilliance and superior morality that might yet save America from the prejudices and ignorance of the irredeemables, deplorables, clingers, and crazies.

Liberal Americans Hate America First Because They Hate Normal Americans

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

America First is really about putting Americans first, and when is the last time we saw a Democrat do that? Between foreigners and Americans on trade, they side with the foreigners. Between illegal immigrants and American citizens, they side with the illegals. Between anyone else and us, they always side with anyone else. This November, the people of Arizona, and across the country, need to decide whether they want to turn our government over to people who hate us.

Liberals Discover the Dangers of a Powerful Supreme Court

Doug Bandow, The American Spectator

We can only hope that Brett Kavanaugh’s arrival on the Supreme Court will result in the horrors of which the left warns: government as we know it will disappear, people will be free to live their lives as they wish, and impending progressive political triumphs will be thwarted. Unfortunately, the result is likely to be far more equivocal. Nevertheless, for now schadenfreude offers cause for satisfaction: after spending decades promoting government by judiciary, the left has discovered the wonders of democracy. Maybe eventually they will come to appreciate the value of liberty.

Liberalism: An Intrinsically Uncivil Ideology

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

Under liberalism, the central question of politics invariably shifts from goodness to power, thus rendering civil discourse an impossibility. Out of such a raw, grabby culture come low demagogues like Holder and Hillary, for whom the ends justify any means. Long before Kanye West entered the Oval Office, civility vanished from it, often at the hands of preening liberals like Clinton and Obama who extolled it the most.

I Left My Shoes In San Francisco

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

What the liberal elite have in mind is no laughing matter. No one has to let people treat our sidewalks like a latrine. That’s a choice, a conscious decision made by the elite in the service of their irrational hatred of the Normal people who refuse to bow down. But we can choose to fight back. November’s coming. Vote Republican, and against people going on the sidewalk. If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some … booties over your shoes, cause you’re gonna meet some grody people there.

I Really Don’t Feel Like Submitting To Socialist Tyranny. Do You?

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

The socialists seem to assume that there’s not going to be any pushback from all these millions of Normal Americans who are going to fund this latest socialist experiment (Remember, this time, under these geniuses, socialism will totally work – it’s due for a win!). We’ll sort of shrug and just give up our stuff, and our freedom, to a bunch of 20-something adolescents because…the 20-something adolescents really want us to. Nah.
