Nunes memo

The Schiff Memo Harms Democrats More Than It Helps Them

Andrew C. McCarthy, National Review

The Schiff memo, which has been delayed for weeks because the FBI objected to its gratuitous effort to publicize highly classified intelligence, including methods and sources, tells its tale through what appear to be scores of blacked-out redactions of information Schiff pushed to expose. The Schiff memo does more to harm than to advance the Democrats’ defense of the Obama administration and the use of the FISA process by the FBI and the DOJ.

White House Nails Democrat Memo On Spying Scandal #HeadsMustRoll

The White House press office termed the Democratic effort “nothing more than a hyper-partisan effort to obscure and deflect from deeply troubling potential abuses of the FISA court brought to light by Intelligence Committee Republicans” and we would have to agree.

Grassley-Graham Memo Affirms Nunes Memo — Media Yawns

Andrew C. McCarthy, National Review

What the Grassley-Graham memo tells us is that the Nunes memo, for all the hysteria about it, was tame. The Grassley-Graham memo tells us that we need not only a full-blown investigation of what possessed the Obama administration to submit such shoddy applications to the FISA court, but of how a judge — or perhaps as many as four judges — rationalized signing the warrants. We need full disclosure — the warrants, the applications, the court proceedings. No more games.

Jerry Nadler’s Leaked Rebuttal of the Nunes Memo Is Very Weak

Andrew C. McCarthy, National Review

Jerry Nadler is an able lawyer. What surprises me about his retort is how weak it is. He posits four points, the last two of which are strictly political red meat. Of the other two, one provides an inaccurate explanation of the probable-cause standard in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA); the other is an ill-conceived argument about Christopher Steele’s credibility.

Why Did the Democrats Lie So Baldly about the Memo?

Roger L. Simon, PJ Media

Unless they were lobotomized, those Democrats and their dependable PR team (aka the media) must have realized they were blatantly lying to the American public. Evidently, they didn't care. How're we now supposed to trust what these people say about anything? Whatever else happened, the FBI clearly used a slanderous fictional document to get a FISA ruling to surveil Carter Page without telling the court the document was a pack of lies paid for by the Clinton campaign and written by a creepy spy with old-line Soviet connections.
