Waiting for the Counterrevolution

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

At some point, if the rioting and revolution and overt socialism continue, the majority will weigh in, likely from mid September to mid October. The Democratic Party knows this. So its functionaries are now frantically trying to portray Trump as the instigator of the violence — or claim there is no violence at all. They permanently script and seclude the cognitively challenged Biden, and redefine Antifa and BLM as our own sons and daughters who, if a little rowdy and zealous at times, have their hearts in the right place and soon will calm down and join the victorious Democratic war wagon. Pushback is coming this fall.

Assault on America, Day 574: Joe Biden’s agonizing quest for a mini-me drawing to a close

They’d never admit it, but Democrats are scared to death of the prospect of having to govern in a post-Trump world, since he’s the only thing that unites them. Grampa Joe Biden must be vacillating over the different women on his short list, afraid of making the wrong choice -- but even more terrified of making the right one.

Where Are the New Heroes of the Revolution?

Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness

There are few progressive icons past or present who by the rules of the revolution would not be canceled out. Cultural revolutions are suicidal, nihilistic, and incoherent. Those who survive such cannibalism do so by arbitrarily exempting their leaders from their own rules of mandated purity, anti-Western cant, and no statute of limitations. If there is any coherent message in this otherwise incoherent summer, it is that a few thousand wannabees have launched a revolution with the full expectation that their own careers will be thereby enhanced in the most remuneratively Western and capitalist fashion possible.

Assault on America, Day 573: NeverTrumpers who support Biden show it’s purely personal

In the 2020 election, it’s become clear that politics is policy. Now more than ever there’s a difference between the two presidential candidates and two parties that can’t be ignored simply because of personality differences. #NeverTrumpers didn’t have much of a leg to stand on in 2016 -- now they’re just downright wrong.

Assault on America, Day 572: Democrats leap over taste line in calling it ‘The Trump Virus’

The only thing Speaker Nancy Pelosi accomplished by calling the health crisis “The Trump Virus” was to awaken more Americans to the absurdity of blaming everything on the president. Considering the totality of the circumstances, voter attitudes are volatile at best. People are tired of the finger-pointing and name calling. When will it end?

How Senator Cory Gardner Can Revive His Flagging Campaign

Here’s our advice to Senator Gardner: Fire your Mitch McConnell endorsed consultants and get out on the campaign trail with state Rep. Patrick Neville. Go to every town in Colorado with a radio station and every city with a TV station and call a rally to “Back the Blue,” and make it clear that you will tolerate no violence from ANTIFA or BLM thugs. Tell the law-abiding citizens and voters of Colorado you stand for law and order against Hickenlooper and the Far Left New Democrats that are behind his campaign.

Assault on America, Day 569: Demagoguery and demographics define 2020’s Democrat party

It's not exactly a surprise, but Democrats’ demagoguery over the coronavirus pandemic is astonishing, even for them. It might be that they’re desperately trying to cover for the obvious mental deficiencies of nominee-to-be Joe Biden, but they can’t hide him for long. Where is your running mate, Joe? Who will it be?

Vandals, Marxists, Antifa lay siege to Portland, while Dems decry federal intervention

Tammy Bruce, Washington Times

In today’s upside-down world, the federal government coming to the aid of a city under siege has enraged Democratic leadership such as Nancy Pelosi. Democratic leadership calls federal law enforcement “stormtroopers” as local leadership fights against assistance to stop murderous crimes waves killing their cities. The rhetoric against police continues, and police budgets are getting cut, as in New York, where certain crime units have already been disbanded. Democrats revel in anarchy and mayhem, and throwing your family into the volcano is the price they decided is worth paying as they imagine making Mr. Trump look bad.

The Disgrace of Portland

Rich Lowry, National Review

This isn’t hard: It is the people attacking federal property who bear moral responsibility for what’s happening in Portland. In all the cities around the country where nihilistic mobs aren’t trying to burn down symbols of our justice system, there’s no enhanced presence of federal officers. It would be one thing if municipal authorities could legitimately claim that they have things under control. They don’t. The mobs have been clashing with the local cops for months. This longstanding riot is a stark commentary on the misgovernance of Mayor Wheeler, who is better at insulting federal law enforcement than doing his job.

How To Lose Your Majority - Message To Mitch McConnell And Senate GOP

We have a simple explanation of the problem and a simple answer that will guarantee a Republican majority in the Senate: Your problem is you have spent that past three years betraying the GOP base that elected Donald Trump President, so stop betraying conservatives, get off your ass and fight for the MAGA agenda and you will win. Keep doing what you are doing, and you will lose.

Assault on America, Day 568: Hey Dems, since when does loving America equal abnormal?

The “real” Donald Trump isn’t necessarily revealed via Twitter and we sure can’t be certain of the man based on media distortions of what “normal” looks like. The 2020 election will settle where the American people stand on the matters of today -- don’t be shocked if Democrats are the ones deemed aberrant.

Brace for the Backlash

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

We’ll elect Republicans down the line, while pillaging the Democrats and sowing their fields with salt. That’s how we fight will back. Don’t miss the fun. If you aren’t registered, register. If you can’t make it to the polls, get an absentee ballot. Every hand, hold high your figurative pitchforks and torches! Burn baby, burn. In this way, we can avoid the worst consequences of the chaos the left has unleashed. History tells us what those consequences are, and frankly, you are doing those pinko brats a favor by electing a clear GOP majority and putting a stop to their idiocy before they go full Ft. Sumter.

Assault on America, Day 567: Ho hum, another call for fiscal sanity in the age of the CCP virus

If blue state governors and mayors won’t continue reopening the economy, there’s little alternative to just saying no to Pelosi’s and the Democrats’ bloated handouts. And needless to say, Grampa Joe Biden can take his “climate change” ideas and stick them, well, where the sun don’t shine. Isn’t that what they want anyway?

Assault on America, Day 566: Campaign switch in leaders isn’t a retreat, it’s a redeployment

Last week’s Trump campaign personnel switch could turn out to be a wise move if the new leadership is able to steer the president back towards a message-based approach to defining his opponent while touting his own accomplishments. Four years ago, Trump ran on a platform of Making America Great Again. There’s no reason to abandon the concept now.

Assault on America, Day 565: Trump must pound the facts, law and emotional appeal to win

The 2020 election will be heavily influenced by the coronavirus pandemic, but Americans want to see the big picture as well. President Trump has a lot going for him in the issue realm if he would simply drop the personal stuff and focus like a laser on promoting policies that make people realize the world’s not coming to an end.

Assault on America, Day 562: Brace yourself for 2020’s unconventional party conventions

With one month to go until the parties’ political conventions, it’s still very much up in the air as to what they’ll look like and who will be permitted to attend and participate. Democrats and Republicans take different approaches to dealing with the CCP virus pandemic and its possible threats, and this will be no typical year for political theater.

Assault on America, Day 561: Dems can’t steal MAGA, how about MAO (Make America Obama)?

Democrats don’t have an agenda apart from constantly pecking at Trump, pandering to their leftist/racist constituents or proposing the destruction of any remaining vestiges of capitalism in favor of big government boondoggles that will never work. The Green New Deal? Scary. Maybe their new campaign theme should be, “Make America Obama,” a.k.a., MAO.

Trump Needs to Scale the Real Wall of 2020

Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness

Trump already is starting to do the first thing superbly: stand up for America prior to May 25 (when George Floyd was killed), and tell Americans that in this 244th year of their existence, they will not cowardly renounce their heroes like Washington and Lincoln. Thomas Jefferson was not Jefferson Davis. Second, Trump cannot just talk of his pre-virus administration. Finally, Trump needs to emphasize not just the efficacy of his administration but its effects on real people. Trolls, washed-up celebrities, know-nothing pampered athletes, and hack leftists don’t deserve mention in the campaign’s final 100 days.

Assault on America, Day 560: Listless GOP on verge of letting Dems change American history

A loss in November’s election might not spell the conclusion of Donald Trump’s time as president -- he could run again in four years -- but the country will be a very different place in 2024 if Republicans don’t stand up now, support their candidate and enthusiastically champion America’s cause. Democrats never rest; the GOP is too often caught napping.

Ted Cruz: No Bailouts For Minneapolis, Portland and Seattle

The toll-free Capitol switchboard is (1-866-220-0044). We urge CHQ readers and friends to call Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Whip John Thune to tell them you support Senator Cruz’s proposed legislation to make local governments liable to private property owners if officials deliberately withhold police protection.
