State of the Union
Rather than adopt the compromising tone so beloved by Capitol Hill’s Republican swamp-dwellers, we urge the President to hold the Republican leadership's feet to the fire. In my 50+ years of being active in the conservative movement at the national level I can’t think of another time when the Republican establishment so blatantly hijacked a national television opportunity to rebut a liberal President and used it to attack the voters they need to win the presidency.
Republican leaders will talk a good game for the next year, but don’t expect Obama to leave office with his agenda unfinished, because, as we explain here, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell have already “pre-surrendered.”
