Time To Smoke Out Blue State Governors’ Positions On Illegal Aliens

O'Malley & McAuliffe

Liberal Democrats, and particularly their ostensible Party leader President Barack Obama, are the facilitators behind the current invasion of our southern border.

But when politics get practical in their own backyards – and citizens in their own states speak out against being saddled with the cost of Obama’s lawless  open borders policy, it turns out these supposed liberals aren’t so liberal with their own political futures.

Maryland’s Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley (who at least in his own mind is a viable Democratic candidate for President) has tried to be on both sides of the issue

According to reporting by Brian Witte for Gannett’s Delmarvanow website, “Days after O’Malley criticized a White House proposal to deal with the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, reports surfaced of a leaked phone call between the governor and a top Obama aide. The details appeared to make O’Malley look like a hypocrite on the matter, publicly criticizing the White House’s calls to speed up deportations of children arriving on the border, while pleading with the administration to not send the young people to one site in his state.”

The call didn’t “appear” to make O’Malley a hypocrite on imposing the cost of illegal aliens on Maryland’s taxpayers, he is a hypocrite.

Same with Connecticut’ Democratic Governor Dannel P. Malloy. According to reporting by Keith M. Phaneuf of the CT Mirror, Gov. Malloy’s administration “has denied a request from federal authorities to temporarily house up to 2,000 illegal migrant children from Central America at the Southbury Training School.”

The New Haven Register subsequently editorialized that “If this was four months after the election, Connecticut would be helping these kids” but in the editor’s view, “Our governor is a Democrat facing a tough re-election fight in November. The bottom line is that too many swing voters fear immigrants, and Malloy doesn’t want the “optics” of hundreds of brown-skinned, Spanish-speaking children being bused into Connecticut…”

Meanwhile Connecticut’s two Democratic Senators, who are not up for election this year, are leading advocates of Obama’s $3.7 billion request to disperse illegal aliens across the country and resettle them in a neighborhood near you.

Colorado Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper likewise said his state's taxpayers don't want “another burden.”

“Our citizens already feel burdened by all kinds of challenges. They don't want to see another burden come into their state,” said Colorado’s Democratic Governor reports the Associated Press. “'However we deal with the humanitarian aspects of this, we've got to do it in the most cost-effective way possible.”

NewsMax reports that Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, a Democrat, said his state doesn't have a suitable place to accommodate an HHS shelter but would be willing to work with faith-based groups to find suitable housing.

Translation: Don’t stick Delaware taxpayers with the bill for housing and educating these kids.

And little wonder, the federal government is spending “about $250 to $1,000 per child," Senator Jeff Flake told reporters, with the cost expected to run past $2 billion – and that doesn’t include the costs passed on to local school districts that the Obama administration says have no choice but to accept any illegal immigrants the feds choose to send to the community.

“While a district may restrict attendance to district residents, inquiring into students’ citizenship or immigration status, or that of their parents or guardians would not be relevant to establishing residency within the district,” said a letter sent to all public-school districts on May 8, 2014, by the Departments of Justice and Education.

Democratic Governors O’Malley, Malloy, Hickenlooper and Markell have already been caught out as hypocrites on Obama's plan to settle illegal aliens in their states.  It is time to put the heat on the rest of the Democratic Governors who pander to race-baiting Hispanic organizations, like La Raza, and then run for cover when the bill for their open borders policies lands on the doorstep of taxpayers in their states.

Here’s a list of Democratic Governors, please contact them to find out where they stand on taxpayer-funded housing and education for the wave of illegal aliens President Obama is dispersing to their states.  For email you may have to click the link for “Governor's Website” under the Governor’s photo.
