Richard A. Viguerie joins the BBC for its Witness history program.

CHQ Chairman Richard A. Viguerie joins the BBC for the international network's Witness history program. In this segment Mr. Viguerie charts the rise of the modern American conservative movement and focuses on the Richard Viguerieorganization of the Moral Majority and how it changed the course of American politics.

The Moral Majority was set up to promote voting for candidates who shared the same "family values" as religious conservatives from Catholic, Jewish and evangelical Christian communities. It urged protestants in particular to go against the tradition of separating politics and religion and register to vote, and to vote Republican. Richard Viguerie was one of the driving forces behind the movement which was crucial to the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980. The program will air today, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. EST (check your local listings for channel and time) or Mr. Viguerie's 9 minute segment may be accessed and viewed in its entirety through this link.
