Democrats Oppose Sending Troops To The Border

That didn’t take long.

Mandy Mayfield, reporting for our friends at the Washington Examiner, says that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi TweetPelosi ripped President Trump on Twitter Thursday for "pointlessly" sending troops to the border instead of working with Democrats on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Mayfield reported the California Democrat wrote: "@realDonaldTrump is using every cynical political trick in the book to ignite anti-immigrant fervor. Needlessly militarizing our southern border won’t make Americans more safe – it’s just another political calculation.

"Instead of wasting resources on pointlessly sending troops to our border, @realDonaldTrump should work with Democrats to pass the DREAM Act & #ProtectDREAMers," Pelosi added.

Oregon’s Far-Left Democratic Governor Kate Brown, not to be outdone, tweeted:

If @realDonaldTrump asks me to deploy Oregon Guard troops to the Mexico border, I’ll say no. As Commander of Oregon’s Guard, I’m deeply troubled by Trump’s plan to militarize our border.

And later, when we guess no one at the White House paid attention to the first tweet:

There’s been no outreach by the President or federal officials, and I have no intention of allowing Oregon’s guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington.

Heather Roberts of Oregon’s KBND radio reports Oregon’s Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley quickly piled on to announce he, too, was opposed to sending troops to the border. Speaking at a townhall in the town of Sisters, Oregon Roberts reports Merkley said, "We have increased our border security enormously over the past 10 years. Before, when we've had the conversations about the National Guard and so forth, they have said that that is not something they are trained for; it's not a mission that's appropriate for them. So, I think it's probably not the best idea."

It is understandable that Oregon Democrats, not being on the front line of the illegal alien invasion might feel they can get away with such sentiments, but how about Arizona, where illegal immigration has been on the front burner of the state’s politics for twenty-years?

A tweet from CNN announced that Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-7) was also opposed to using National Guard troops to defend the border:

"I will gladly work with the President when his ideas aren't stupid and detrimental to the United States," says Rep. Ruben Gallego on his opposition to Trump sending troops to the Mexican border

“Unfortunately this is what this plan is,” Gellego added, according to reporting by The Washington Examiner’s Tristan Justice. “It was not planned out … This is a failing presidency, their ideas are failing. So now they’re just throwing essentially red meat at their base by sending troops to the border.”

Gallego spoke the day after Trump signed an order directing the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security to deploy the National Guard to the southwest border to work with border patrol to prevent illegal crossing.

Likewise, the Albuquerque Journal's Michael Coleman reports Sen. Martin Heinrich, a New Mexico Democrat who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the proposal to use the military on the border shows that Trump is “grossly out of touch with the reality of our experiences in New Mexico.”

“He should spend less time watching Fox News and more time listening to the people who actually live and work in communities on the border about what their needs are,” Heinrich said. “I guarantee the answer is not wasting billions in taxpayer dollars to militarize their neighborhoods.”

According to Washington’s WTOP radio, Democrats opposing the President’s decision to send troops to the border “think it can help them reach minorities, young people and suburban moderates repelled by Trump’s strident anti-immigrant stances…”

As a result, Democrats are using the issue to emphasize inclusivity and are targeting border regions, suburbs and areas with immigrant populations.

“Immigration is one of those cultural touchstone issues” that shows Democrats are ready to “stand up to Trump,” said Mike Lux, a liberal Democratic consultant quoted by WTOP.

Interestingly, the biggest player on the Democratic side, California’s “sanctuary state’ Governor Jerry Brown has been more circumspect.

According to Noah Bierman and Brian Bennett reporting for the Tribune News Service, California Gov. Jerry Brown, heard from Nielsen about the issue for the first time on Wednesday. Without key details -- including the number of troops, the duration of their deployment and the cost -- the Democratic governor was unwilling to commit to the effort, Brown’s spokesman said.

The administration's request "will be promptly reviewed to determine how best we can assist our federal partners," California National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Tom Keegan said in a statement.

Democrats opposing the President’s decision to send troops to the border have figured out the politics of sending troops to the border from the liberal perspective and “think it can help them reach minorities, young people and suburban moderates repelled by Trump’s strident anti-immigrant stances…”

Conservative voters are watching for the Republican response to the illegal alien “caravan,” and one that reflects the invisibility of Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell or the business as usual attitude of Republicans like Florida’s Rep. Francis Rooney will guarantee a GOP debacle in the midterms.

This is the golden hour for the Republican Party, and their vigor in assisting the President in repelling the pending illegal alien invasion will tell every voter in America who they are and where they stand on preserving American sovereignty and exceptionalism. The illegal alien “caravan” is moving inexorably northward, and the day of reckoning will come when it hits the border.

The toll-free Capitol Switchboard is (1-866-220-0044) we urge CHQ readers and friends to call their Representative and Senators today to urge them to support President Trump’s plans to send American troops to our southern border to repel the illegal alien “caravan.”

Dems acting crazy is predictable

Of course Dems oppose anything that makes sense. They are the problem. Also, it's why they lost big in 16. These people are complete morons and deep into traitorous behavior.

Border patrol

I bet if President Trump asked for volunteers to guard the border he would get more American citizens to volunteer than the number of troops he is sending. I support the President.

Border protection

The primary job of the Military is to protect the better, cheaper, faster way than our Troops on our border(s). Any person not in favor of protecting Americans is a traitor and should be arrested & shipped to GITMO Marine Prison.

Isn't it odd (no it's hypocritical)..

The dems want open borders to allow illegals to come into the USA, but they lock their doors and set their alarms to keep criminals out! Hypocrites one and all.

Thought for the day, The United States of America is NOT a nation of immigrants as so often is spouted in the media. NO, it's a nation of citizens!

Trump sending troops to border

I'm 100% behind The President protecting our border including sending troops to help the border patrol. The only thing the left is worried about is their shrinking voter base with the tougher stance on finding and deporting illegals and stopping more from coming in. They aren't even hiding it anymore with Jerry Brown signing into CA law to give illegals driver licenses to use for voter ID. We badly need to replace RINOs in office like McCain, O'Connell, Ryan, Flake et al, with true conservatives who will uphold the Constitution and support our President. It's been refreshing to have a POTUS who is working hard to keep his promises in spite of the hate from the dems and RINOs. Trump has taken on a huge job to try to rid our government of corruption and we need to continue to help and support him.

If a sovereign nation can not or will not protect its borders can it really claim to be a sovereign nation?
Not only should we send troops to the border but they should be used to defend our border and that would in my opinion mean turning away those who would invade our country whether they are armed or unarmed.
I am not an expert on the Posse Comitatus Act but it seems the reading of it was intended to prohibit our military to perform tasks of civilian law enforcement such as arrest, apprehension, interrogation, and detention of our own citizens unless explicitly authorized by Congress. It is hard to conceive it was intended to prevent the military to act against foreign invasions.
This Act was written in 1887 after the Civil war and seems to me they never intended it to be used to deny our military from defending our borders. The fact that we have been invaded for the past 50+ years by illegal aliens should not stop this sovereign nation from using the military to protect and defend our borders.
The purpose of the civilian law enforcement is to deal with the civilian population within the borders of the United States of America. I for one see nothing that should prohibit our Military from dealing with foreigners who attempt to enter our country without permission.
If the illegal entry into our Sovereign Nation was by a foreign military would we prohibit our military from acting to stop it? For all practical purposes is there really any difference between a military invasion and a civilian invasion of our country they both have the same impact on our nation and the military should be used to prevent the illegal invasion.

Protecting the border

Well said Jon.

Democrats Oppose Sending Troops to Protect Border

Of course the Demoncraps oppose sending troops to protect our Southern Border. That would prevent them fro importing an ILLEGAL voting base since the have gone so far to the left that most American Citizens can no longer support them. Proof of this is happening is to look at California and see Gov. Moonbeam passing out voter registrations by the thousands to ILLEGALS at the same time they given drivers licenses. They also protect ILLEGAL ALIENS over the Safety of AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Trump's and the National Guard

"help them reach minorities, young people and suburban moderates repelled
by Trump’s strident anti-immigrant stances…” Why do the Democrats conflate
"illegal immigration" with ordinary, legal immigration? You really think
that they think these people storming our borders have visas in their back pockets? They have no credibility, and all but the most stupid of their minorities, young people, and suburban moderates they are courting know it!
