UPDATE Senator Jeff Flake flakes out, demands another week delay after voting to send the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Floor of the Senate.
Yesterday’s hearing on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court happened for one reason and one reason only: Because Senator Jeff Flake said he would not vote the Kavanaugh nomination out of committee unless Christine Blasey Ford got an opportunity to air her allegations.
As Judge Kavanaugh said in his opening statement, unfortunately, it took the committee ten days to get to yesterday’s hearing and those ten long days, as was predictable and as he predicted, his family and his name have been totally and permanently destroyed by vicious and false additional accusations.
Well, Christine Blasey Ford got her hearing and Democrats got a full ten days to pile on further specious and outrageous charges to defame a good man and destroy his life – and now it is all up to Senator Flake.
Yesterday’s hearing added absolutely nothing new to the record that would support Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, but it did add a host of contradictions and inconsistencies to the record of her claims.
It is time for Senator Flake to weigh exactly what his demand for a hearing has added to the decision he must make today.
Has there been any new evidence to corroborate Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations?
The answer is no.
Has there been any new exculpatory evidence to remove the cloud from over Judge Kavanaugh?
The answer is yes.
All of the named individuals who Christine Blasey Ford claimed could verify her allegations have denied that the event ever took place.
Senator Lindsey Graham used his five minutes of questioning Judge Kavanaugh to establish just what the Democrats’ smear machine has done, asking Kavanaugh, "Would you say you've been through hell?" Kavanaugh responded, "I've been through hell and then some."
Graham also expressed sympathy for the Supreme Court nominee and his family, saying, "I cannot imagine what you and your family have gone through." He added, "I hope the American people can see through this sham."
Senator Graham also had a message for Republicans on the panel, saying, "To my Republican colleagues, if you vote 'no', you're legitimizing the most despicable thing that I have seen in my time in politics." He told Kavanaugh that he hopes the nominee ends up on the Supreme Court, saying, "that's exactly where you should be."
NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt caught Senator Flake as he was leaving the Capitol and tweeted:
He seemed visibly torn, talking about his struggle to decide what to do.
All eyes will be on him tomorrow morning in the committee before this would go to the full Senate.
We urge all CHQ readers and friends to contact Senator Flake via social media @JeffFlake or via telephone at (202-224-4521) and RESPECTFULLY urge him to vote to send Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Senate Floor with a favorable recommendation. Please tell him that Senator Graham was right, if you vote 'no', you're legitimizing the most despicable thing we have seen in politics.
After calling Senator Flake we urge you to work your way through the remaining Republican Senators urging them not to be taken in by the Democrats’ search and destroy mission against Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his family and to vote AYE when Kavanaugh’s nomination comes to the Floor.

Degradation of the Free Election
Agitator Flake, the RINO consistent with his history and a name he shares with J. Brown to Ca guv....Flake has now given the left extended time to extort R's and committee members, open season on the nominee Kavanaugh and his family to vandalize, smear their good name and remind us all that the left is anti American and does Not believe in presumption of innocence before guilt for the accused...The left lives on emotional trash and bets on use of ignorance to make any case a cause....
