Rubio Leads The Gun Grabbers

Marco Rubio red flag

“Red Flag” laws that target gun owners who are secretly alleged be a danger to themselves or others are one of the new gun confiscation fads.

Red Flag laws, sometimes called "extreme risk protection orders" would let judges issue temporary warrants to take guns away from someone if a law enforcement investigation finds a “substantial risk” of harm. The subject of the order would then have to surrender any guns to law enforcement or a third party.

Sounds reasonable, as gun confiscation laws often do, but here’s how it worked in Maryland.

Answering a 5:00 a.m. knock on his door, Gary J. Willis, a 61-year-old resident of Maryland, was shot and killed by police when they were attempting to confiscate his firearms under the state’s “Red Flag” law.

The details surrounding the order were not released, but according to Breitbart News, a niece is reported to have said that an aunt requested the order.

Police say that Willis initially had a gun in hand when he answered the 5:00 a.m. knock at his door. He put the gun down when he realized officers were knocking, but he picked the gun back up when he ascertained the officers had come to take his firearms.

The officers tried to wrestle the gun away from Willis and it went off, striking no one. But one of the two police officers fired a shot in response, killing Willis.

The Maryland “Red Flag” law allows a person to tell police about any concerns that they have over another person, and that information is sent to a judge. The judge will then make a determination as to whether or not the person’s firearms will be confiscated until the matter is resolved.

Now, by introducing S. 7, Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida wants to impose nationwide the same dangerous regime that got Mr. Willis killed.

Calling the bill a “bill to provide family members of an individual who they fear is a danger to himself, herself, or others, or law enforcement, with new tools to prevent gun violence,” the full text of the legislation isn’t even available to the public, but it has already been referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

While the text of the bill still doesn’t show on the official Library of Congress website as of press time, our friends at the Virginia Citizens Defense League say rumor has it that S. 7 essentially extorts the states to pass Red Flag laws by withholding federal funds if they don't do so.

According to a news release Rubio put out, the bill is a re-introduction of the Extreme Risk Protection Order and Violence Prevention Act, which would dedicate Department of Justice funds to incentivize states to give law enforcement the authority to prevent individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others the ability to purchase or possess firearms.

Gary J. Willis of Maryland didn’t receive much due process before he got the death penalty, but bribery by the Federal Government like that works – it has gotten us a lot of bad laws over the years, says the VCDL.

Fortunately, rocker Ted Nugent and other gun owners aren’t sitting back waiting for Rubio and his gun grabbing friends to show up at 5:00 a.m. at their doors.

According to Yahoo Entertainment News, the outspoken conservative rocker got his followers all riled up Monday when posting about the news that Rubio reintroduced his bill to make it easier for courts to disarm people.

“Oh sure! Everybody knows that big brother government can be trusted to determine which of us can be trusted,” Nugent, 70, shared on Facebook. “Maybe Hillary or Eric Holder or James Comey could be in charge of such decision making. Sleep comfortably at night America the devil is in charge.”

Many of Nugent’s loyal followers passionately weighed in in support of Nugent and in opposition to Rubio’s bill.

“I’m telling you it’s time for Civil War!!! We the people need to take our country and government back!!!” one person wrote, with another sharing a similar sentiment: “Looks like the Civil War will start sooner than I expected. GOOD!”

“I think it’s time to file Lawsuits against these so called Representatives who take an Oath to defend America from Foreign and domestic enemies and uphold the Constitution meaning OUR RIGHTS! They represent US! We need to start suing them for not defending America and taking our rights away,” wrote one woman.

Many of those responding to Ted Nugent’s post took aim directly at Rubio. “Another Leftist Republican,” declared a Facebook user, with someone else adding, “I live in Florida and I’ve been wishing to rid ourselves from him. Little Marco needs to go.”

We think the Texas legislature got it right when, after exhaustive hearings, including over 12 hours of testimony, the legislature declined to take up a Red Flag law proposed by Democratic state Rep. Joe Moody.

“Red flag laws are nothing more than ways to take guns out of the hands of law-abiding persons on nothing more than mere suspicion,” said C.J. Grisham, leader of gun rights group Open Carry Texas, which has pushed to reduce gun restrictions for years. “You never get good policy when you base it off of emotion.”

Next, high-power cars will be the target. Who needs an auto that can exceed 65 or 70 MPH? "It's for their own good," after all. And too much sugary sweets, and carbonated beverages, and beef. And, by the way, anybody who isn't nice to Democrats, they're kinda suspect too. Gee, why don't we just make it easy: anyone who leans conservative is an enemy of the state and subject to immediate incarceration. That'll solve all these gun control issues by just eliminating the people arguing against them. Everyone will live in newly renamed Pelosi-Land, happy and content and tightly controlled. If Aunt Bea or Cousin Barney can can cause confiscation of Gomer's firearms, the system is just one step away from grassroots organizations capable of disarming long lists of armed citizens. Perhaps special courts will be needed to hear complaints. Teams of law enforcement specialists would attend hearings and lead teams to penetrate locked doors and safes. Think of the parades and glory for such democrat action.
