We Need To Fight And Win The Election We Have

Biden 2020 Election
In the ideal world imagined by some of our friends, U.S. Attorney John Durham will indict Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and the rest of the Crossfire Hurricane conspirators tomorrow, Ghislaine Maxwell will survive prison long enough to spill all against Bill Clinton, COVID-19 will be miraculously cured by September, and Donald Trump will cruise to reelection in November without breaking a sweat.

Of course, none of this is going to happen, but some of our conservative friends can’t seem to stop wishing for the election they want, instead of concentrating on winning the election they have.

However, despite this lack of ability to focus on winning, the tools to win are actually there, in a way that was unavailable to Republicans before Donald Trump came on the scene.

First, and perhaps most importantly, we have a candidate – Donald Trump – who is a fighter and who will take the fight to Joe Biden and the Democrats in a way the Bushes, John McCain and Mitt Romney never would or could.

Second, we have a new and energetic conservative – populist coalition that clearly represents majority opinion on major issues that move voters; standing for law and order, securing our borders, protecting our culture and history, rebuilding our economy and creating jobs, and taking on Red China, to name but a few.

Third, in Joe Biden we have an opponent who has been embroiled in corruption and controversy on multiple fronts. He has been in politics for over 40-years and, as former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, Biden has "been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades." What’s more, he has abandoned all of his former “moderate” position to embrace a host of out-of-the-mainstream positions on the Green New Deal, abortion and law enforcement to name but a few.

Fourth, Republicans have a bench of strong and motivated candidates for Congress, state and local office, who, despite the lethargy of the GOP’s Capitol Hill leadership, are ready to campaign on the winning Trump agenda of rebuilding the economy, law and order and personal liberty and responsibility.

Fifth, the Democratic Party has moved far, far to the Left under Nancy Pelosi, the Squad, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, Jerrold Nadler and Joe Biden and is committing political suicide on TV practically every day. It is now the party of tearing down our history, the Green New Deal, “woke” rioters, same-sex bathrooms, same-sex marriage, government paid abortions that guarantee a dead baby, gun confiscation, open borders, job killing trade deals and the endless importation of welfare-dependent aliens. These policies are deeply offensive to millions of Americans who will be motivated to vote to preserve traditional values and their way of life, which Donald Trump is doing, despite the silence, criticism and opposition of the Republican establishment.

Finally, and perhaps second only in importance to Trump’s willingness to take the fight straight to Biden and the Democrats, is his commitment to confront the “woke” elitism that is poisoning our society and to fight for America’s history and traditional values.

Trump’s speech at Mount Rushmore was, as Britt Hume put it, a turning point. While the speech included an incisive critique of the “woke” Far Left, it also included a politically powerful message to Americans who have been intentionally left behind by today’s political elite:

…as we meet here tonight, there is a growing danger that threatens every blessing our ancestors fought so hard for, struggled, they bled to secure.

Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children.

Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our Founders, deface our most sacred memorials, and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities.  Many of these people have no idea why they are doing this, but some know exactly what they are doing.  They think the American people are weak and soft and submissive.  But no, the American people are strong and proud, and they will not allow our country, and all of its values, history, and culture, to be taken from them.

And later:

The violent mayhem we have seen in the streets of cities that are run by liberal Democrats, in every case, is the predictable result of years of extreme indoctrination and bias in education, journalism, and other cultural institutions.

Against every law of society and nature, our children are taught in school to hate their own country, and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes, but that were villains.  The radical view of American history is a web of lies — all perspective is removed, every virtue is obscured, every motive is twisted, every fact is distorted, and every flaw is magnified until the history is purged and the record is disfigured beyond all recognition.

People in “flyover country” understand they’ve been the victims of a decades-long politician-made disaster. The cultural erosion, the deindustrialization of America, and the destruction of America’s middle class wrought over the two decades preceding the Trump economic miracle weren’t caused by some inevitable, pre-destined economic force – they were caused by the leaders we elected and entrusted with our government and the education of our children.

And Donald Trump is the only candidate for President talking about it and prepared to rectify it.

Clearly, it does not come naturally to Donald Trump to speak the language of cultural conservatives, politically active Christians, the Bible and the Constitution.

But, just as clearly, Donald Trump has produced like no other president in recent memory on issues of importance to cultural conservatives; fighting for religious liberty, fighting for the right to life, protecting our Second Amendment rights, building the Wall and ending open borders, ending job killing trade deals with Red China and Mexico, stopping the endless importation of welfare-dependent aliens, fighting the drug cartels and defending traditional American culture, history and values.

If we didn’t know it before, after what we’ve seen in the streets over the past month it is inescapable that there’s no negotiating on our issues with the new “woke” Democrats. Thus, it is to Donald Trump that right-of-center voters and Americans who wish to live in liberty under God’s laws will have to look if our constitutional republic is to survive, and it is to us that Trump must look to find the votes necessary to win the election.

The future of our country is at stake in this election. It’s time we conservatives stopped wishing for an election that was never going to be and buckled down to do whatever it takes to win the election we have.
