Cain Is Out, Paul Is First

With Herman Cain out of the race, CHQ Poll respondents pick Ron Paul over Newt Gingrich by more than a 2-to-1 margin.  Mitt?  Mitt who?

We asked you:  “Herman Cain announced over the weekend that he was dropping out of the presidential race. Now that Cain is out, which of the three “front-runners” would you support?”

Here is how you responded:

63% Ron Paul

20% Newt Gingrich

13% None of the above

3% Mitt Romney

Herman Cain forum

One thing that was very encouraging was that one of the main Herman Cain supporter forums had their founder/administrator endorse Ron Paul, and a significant number of that site's members also said they would now support Doctor Paul. Whether Herman Cain gets pressured into supporting one of the RINOs almost doesn't matter if most of Cain's supporters go to Paul anyway.

In retrospect, this only makes sense.  Cain appealed to many of his supporters because he is considered an "outsider", and because of his support of Tea Party principles.  Ron Paul is the only other candidate they could logically support, as Dr. Paul is also an outsider, and his 2008 Revolution was the *genesis* of the current tea party.  I for one am very glad for the new Paul supporters who used to support Cain, and in fact I would love it if Ron Paul would support the Fair Tax as Cain originally did before he embraced the interim "9-9-9" plan.

This, if correct, is great news! Some National Polls are claiming it quite differently though. This is why a 1st place win in Iowa is of the utmost importance. It would set the stage for the remainder of the early caucus' and primaries..
