2020 campaign

Assault on America, Day 594: Joe ‘n Kamala, Day 1: Viruses & the Post Office by infomercial

Democrats gathered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (or wait, no they didn’t) to make their case to Americans in the 2020 election. We heard a lot about COVID-19, a lot about how great Joe Biden is and even a healthy smattering of cheerleading for the United States Post Office. What was missing? Unity.

Assault on America, Day 593: The boring Joe & Kamala show to be four days of Trump bashing

In the age of COVID-19, this week’s Democrat convention is certain to be like no other. There are plenty of storylines -- will Joe Biden stay awake? Will Kamala Harris be able to convince people she really is a warm, likeable human being? Does anyone care? Can Democrats go two minutes without digging into Donald Trump? We’re about to find out.

Dear Mr. President:

Americans elected you because you are a fighter for the American people and American values.

Assault on America, Day 590: Guilt consumed Dems and the meaning of a Gettysburg speech

It's sad to see how much the concept of guilt -- real or imagined -- drives the agenda of the Democrat Party today. From Joe Biden feeling obligated to choose an African-American female as his running mate to ripping President Trump for the possibility of delivering his acceptance speech at Gettysburg, liberals are consumed with shame. Where will it lead them?

Assault on America, Day 589: Dems terrified COVID-19 fear flame will die out before November

It's hard enough to focus Americans’ attention on political matters for more than a few days let alone months like Democrats are attempting to do with the COVID-19 pandemic panic. Sooner or later sensible people figure out that the world isn’t coming to an end and getting sick means getting sick -- and getting well in most cases. In 2020, voters demand more; Trump should give it to them.

Assault on America, Day 588: If most likable candidate always wins, it’s Trump in a landslide

If it can be shown the most likable presidential candidate always wins, the battle for the White House in 2020 could come down to whether President Trump can keep calm and composed under persistent pestering by the media and whether Joe Biden risks being humiliated by actually campaigning in person. Smart money is on Trump to prevail.

Assault on America, Day 587: Americans must realize we deserve a lot better than Joe Biden

It doesn’t take a 19th century French philosopher to suggest that Americans should consider the whole picture this November when they head to the voting booth to choose between Republicans and Democrats. Liberal party members and the media would prefer to make it all about Trump, but somewhere along the line, folks must realize there’s a lot more to it.

Assault on America, Day 586: How will Dems spin double-digit GDP growth in the third quarter?

With the party conventions set to take place in the next two weeks, Americans are enjoying the last bit of calm before the political storm. With Joe Biden announcing his running mate and forecasts of economic improvements by Election Day, we gather that the rhetorical battle is just about to commence. Grab your helmet and hit the fox hole, it will be nasty.

The Man Who Wasn’t There

Roger Kimball, American Greatness

Joe Biden is toast. Already the polls, rigged though most of them are, are tightening. Trump is calmly stealing the Democrats’ thunder, issuing executive orders on everything from payroll tax cuts to instituting a moratorium on evictions. Coronavirus hysteria has, at least for now, prevented the president from deploying his biggest vote-getter, the huge rally. But he has adapted and is outflanking poor Biden on every front. The curious thing is that the Democrats do not seem to have twigged to this reality. They look straight ahead but cannot see what is staring them in the face.

Assault on America, Day 583: Carl Bernstein & the Trump coup that never was nor ever will be

Joe Biden can run from presidential debates, but he can’t hide from his record. President Trump’s detractors can hope he’ll just leave quietly before this fall’s election, but they’re plain crazy. Eventually the truth comes out, and here’s thinking Trump will emerge as the more credible candidate. And it won’t even be close.

Assault on America, Day 582: Hey Joe Biden, your VP search Ain’t No Way to Treat a Lady

“Unity” is a fleeting concept in today’s America and it doesn’t seem likely folks will be brought together when Grampa Joe Biden’s running mate is announced, the filibuster is done away with or the media keeps up with its all-hate-all-the-time coverage of President Trump. Our country is in crisis and a lot of bad actors are making it worse.

Assault on America, Day 581: What do Dems and flag-snubbing NBA players have in common?

Professional athletes and Democrat congressmen and women behaving badly seems to be commonplace these days. It’s almost like they’re trying to get folks riled up rather than providing entertainment and good governance. They couldn’t do worse if they tried… or maybe the insults are the latest salvos in a greater war to destroy what remains of American culture.

Assault on America, Day 580: Trump is right, national mail-in balloting would be a disaster

President Trump opened a can of worms last week when he tweeted that the election could be postponed until after the COVID-19 national panic subsides. Democrats will use the occasion to step up their calls for mail-in balloting, a tragic national disaster waiting to happen if it comes down to it. Republicans had better step up.

Assault on America, Day 579: America needs a bubble to isolate from media/political stupidity

It goes without saying a lot of people will have much to answer for once the “bubble” is burst and there’s no longer a need to worry about the CCP virus. Will we all look back on these times with humor and understanding of what went on? Or will it be more like a gigantic societal hangover with people asking, “I did what?”

Assault on America, Day 576: Bored Democrats politicizing COVID-19 to petrify America

One month away from the traditional, post Labor Day start of the presidential campaign season, Democrats are pulling out all the stops to pin the ongoing CCP virus pandemic on President Trump and his administration. The liberal party’s “solutions” always involve dumping more money; other than that, they haven’t a clue.

Assault on America, Day 575: Silent Majority and humble Trump will let it roar on Election Day

This year’s election is far too important to make it all about making an example of Grampa Joe Biden or haggish Nancy Pelosi or arrogant and condescending Chuck Schumer. Stick to the “presidential” stuff and the rest will follow. If Trump can keep it up, the “secret” vote won’t feel as compelled to remain invisible.

Assault on America, Day 574: Joe Biden’s agonizing quest for a mini-me drawing to a close

They’d never admit it, but Democrats are scared to death of the prospect of having to govern in a post-Trump world, since he’s the only thing that unites them. Grampa Joe Biden must be vacillating over the different women on his short list, afraid of making the wrong choice -- but even more terrified of making the right one.

Assault on America, Day 573: NeverTrumpers who support Biden show it’s purely personal

In the 2020 election, it’s become clear that politics is policy. Now more than ever there’s a difference between the two presidential candidates and two parties that can’t be ignored simply because of personality differences. #NeverTrumpers didn’t have much of a leg to stand on in 2016 -- now they’re just downright wrong.

Assault on America, Day 572: Democrats leap over taste line in calling it ‘The Trump Virus’

The only thing Speaker Nancy Pelosi accomplished by calling the health crisis “The Trump Virus” was to awaken more Americans to the absurdity of blaming everything on the president. Considering the totality of the circumstances, voter attitudes are volatile at best. People are tired of the finger-pointing and name calling. When will it end?

Assault on America, Day 569: Demagoguery and demographics define 2020’s Democrat party

It's not exactly a surprise, but Democrats’ demagoguery over the coronavirus pandemic is astonishing, even for them. It might be that they’re desperately trying to cover for the obvious mental deficiencies of nominee-to-be Joe Biden, but they can’t hide him for long. Where is your running mate, Joe? Who will it be?
