Bill de Blasio

Is Mayor de Blasio an Anti-Asian Bigot?

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

De Blasio now demands change: "We must be sure that the very best high schools are open to ... every kind of New Yorker." The student bodies at the elite public schools "need to look like New York City." Translation: We must have more Hispanic and black students, and if that means throwing out the entrance exam to cut the numbers of Asians and whites, throw out the exam. Soo Kim, president of the Stuyvesant alumni association, is having none of it: "Correct me if I'm wrong, but they're saying these schools are too Asian, so there must be something wrong. ... Am I the only one who looks at that and says, 'I don't understand how that's even legal.'"

Jihadism’s E-Z Pass to New York

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

All New Yorkers can take from de Blasio’s pathetic press conference is that the only thing that stands between them and the next Islamic terrorist attack is luck. “We understand this was an attack on our values,” said de Blasio. “It was an effort to break our spirit. But as an effort to break our spirit it failed.” What values? What spirit? He speaks for a political class bereft of both — a political class that will always choose political correctness over protecting its own people.

The Latest Marxist Proposal from NYC’s Sandinista Mayor

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

This week De Blasio unveiled a proposed tax on the “wealthy” in order to fix New York City’s crumbling subway system and fund “half-price fares” for some 800,000 low-income riders. His previous efforts, which include a “mansion tax,” went nowhere, and likely this one will too. Such a lumbering proposal doesn’t address the existing emergency. As Joe Lhota, who has been parachuted in to fix the subway system, points out, “I can’t wait a year.”

Somebody, Anybody, Run Against Bill de Blasio

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

Islands of prosperity and calm still exist within New York City, but they are surrounded by an ever-growing sea of filth and disorder. Gotham needs another Rudy. Let’s hope that in the age of Trump some public-spirited New Yorker will step forward to reclaim the most remarkable city on earth from a radical who is determined to ruin it.

Cutting Counterterrorism, Increasing “Clean Tech” Cronyism

New York's intensely partisan Democratic Senator Charles Schumer claims "New York City remains terror target number one," yet Obama has cut a major counterterrorism program by $300 million and New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio is dismantling the New York Police Department's counterterrorism operations against radical Islam.

Will de Blasio Help Conservatism?

Noel Sheppard,

Commenting on new NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio (D), Will said, "[T]here's nothing better for American conservatism than periodic examples of untrammeled liberalism...I give him three years and people will be begging for a return to something else."
