An Industry of Untruth

Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness

Lies, misrepresentations, and distortions. The COVID-19 epidemic, the lockdown, and the rioting were seen by the Left, the media, and now the Democratic Party as a renewed effort in this election year to abort the presidency of Donald Trump, or make it impossible for him to be reelected. In 2020, the effort is not to ensure that a socialist not be appointed president who otherwise would not have been elected, but rather to ensure that she will be. The brand of all cultural revolutions is untruth about the past and present in order to control the future. Why we let this happen is the only mystery left.

Liberalism Is Dangerous to Your Wallet and Your Health

Stephen Moore, The Epoch Times

New cases are rising in red states that have opened up for business faster than in blue states that have remained mostly closed. And we will have to see how this pans out. But the deaths, especially in nursing homes, remain much higher in the blue states. Moreover, studies are now finding that the adverse health effects from the lockdown (suicide, delayed treatments for cancer and heart problems, depression, spousal and child abuse, alcoholism, and drug overdoses, to name a few) could easily match the saved lives from lockdowns. These “lockdown deaths” are far more prevalent in blue states that shut down.

Democrats bless stimulus checks that flow to strip clubs and the dead

Robert Knight, Washington Times

We’re still waiting for Democrats, including Joe Biden, to denounce the criminality. Apparently, condemning mob violence is “divisive,” but throwing bricks, setting fires, shooting cops and wrecking whole districts is not. Could it be that, combined with the Wuhan Communist coronavirus-induced economic meltdown, Democrats see value in these riots continuing right up to Election Day? They could be wrong, however. Horrified at lawlessness, obsequious genuflections to Marxist demands and calculated economic misery, perhaps a majority of Americans will choose lawmakers like President Trump who actually love America.

Judge Slaps Down de Blasio And Cuomo Restrictions On Religious Liberty

America’s worst mayor, New York’s Bill de Blasio, and America’s most hypocritical governor, New York’s Andrew Cuomo, got a spanking from Judge Gary Sharpe sitting in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, which recently  granted a group of religious plaintiffs a preliminary injunction enjoining de Blasio, Cuomo and their vile minions from prohibiting certain religious gatherings.

Must See Sen. Tom Cotton Video: Biden Will Bring Anarchy To Your Hometown

Senator Tom Cotton is right, Joe Biden is too liberal and too confused to lead, and if we allow Joe Biden to be elected President, anarchy will be coming to our towns and cities. We urge CHQ readers and friends to watch the ad through this link to YouTube and then help make it go viral by sending the link to your family, friends, neighbors, fellow parishioners, civic club members and other contacts.

Time for Trump to move on from Tulsa

Byron York, Washington Examiner

In Tulsa post-mortems, two factors seem to be most important in keeping attendance down. One was simply fear of contracting coronavirus. Attendees would be indoors, with thousands of other people, for hours. The other was fear of protesters. Both are problems Trump will just have to deal with as the campaign goes on. As far as the virus is concerned, Trump should recognize his supporters' reasonable anxieties. Hold events outdoors, create enough space for people to be comfortable there. If that means a smaller rally, so be it; it is not going to be a Bidenesque gathering with a few circles on the floor.

Conservatives Applaud Trump’s American Workers First Executive Order

In the face of opposition from Big Business and the Wall Street – Washington – Silicon Valley Axis, and lobbying by some of his own White House staff who secretly and not-so-secretly share their globalist views, this latest Executive Order limiting immigration is another concrete example of Donald Trump keeping faith with America’s forgotten men and women.

Peter Wood on the Vandalism of Civilization

Dr. Peter Wood is one of a small but brave band of academics who have the integrity to criticize the role of college and university faculty members and administrators in encouraging “the wreckage of the public square” as he put it. We urge CHQ readers and friends to call upon their colleges and universities, especially publicly funded institutions, to do their part in restoring the principles of respect for the common good and to oppose the wreckage of the public square.

Americans Should Never Again Comply With Pandemic Lockdown Orders

John Daniel Davidson, The Federalist

We’re told a second wave of coronavirus infections is coming. The double standard is everywhere and undeniable, and the message is clear: the experts and the people in charge only care about the pandemic when it’s politically convenient. They’re guided by the science, they tell us, but only if the science doesn’t get in the way of their virtue-signaling about Black Lives Matter. They care about public health, but only up to a point. They care much more about being woke. And if you want to go to a big rally, it’s only safe if it’s the right kind. Americans should never listen to these people again.

Hiding COVID-19's Origins

Betsy McCaughey, New York Post

China is determined to block investigations of where COVID-19 came from. But worse, influential American scientists are going along with censoring any inquiry. They're declaring their "solidarity with the scientists and health professionals of China." Promising leads need to be investigated further, but instead, they are being denounced as "conspiracy theories." Not just by the Chinese Communist Party, too. What we know is the virus was spreading months before China disclosed it and did not originate in Wuhan, contrary to China's original claim. Now we need to search for the uncensored truth.

David Franke On Covid-19’s Greatest Tragedy: The Nursing Home Elderly

We were warned by the nation’s first large coronavirus outbreak—the one at that nursing home in Kirkland, Washington. But New York's Andrew Cuomo isn’t the only guilty governor. Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey issued an almost identical order six days after Cuomo, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan has also issued such a directive. All three are liberal Democrats who claim to speak for the disadvantaged—but who is more helpless than these nursing home patients?

Call The White House: Urge Expansion and Extension of President Trump's Limits on Immigration

On April 22, 2020, President Trump issued a much-needed Proclamation limiting immigration while millions of Americans are unemployed due to the effects of the Wuhan virus. The restrictions on immigration imposed by that Proclamation are due to expire this coming Saturday, June 20, 2020 and we strongly urge CHQ readers to call upon President Trump to renew and expand those desperately needed protections for American workers and their families. The White House switchboard 202-456-1111 call now.

Left-Wing Lockdown

Betsy McCaughey, Real Clear Politics

Americans have learned a powerful lesson. When politicians tell us to follow the science, it's not that simple. Many scientists have lost their legitimacy. They proposed a draconian lockdown without assessing its side effects on us. They demanded rigorous adherence to it, until, suddenly, they decided marching against racism was more important than preventing virus deaths. Americans won't forget. New York City residents have to wait until late June for sidewalk dining at restaurants. But it's OK, even laudable, for throngs of protesters to march down the street now, many maskless and shouting.

James Hooley: China’s raid on the Tongass National Forest chops American jobs and profits

James Hooley, Assistant to President Ronald Reagan, and a Senior Political Advisor to President George H.W. Bush and Senator Robert Dole, makes the case that expanded logging in the Tongass National Forest will benefit the Chinese economy to the detriment of American small businesses, workers and taxpayers.

Senator Josh Hawley To AG Barr: Investigate Religious Discrimination By Local Officials

Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri was spot on in his letter to Attorney General Bill Barr. What is now obvious is that the rules imposed by the states of California, Michigan and other Democrat-run localities not only favored one type of First Amendment speech over another, but they were completely arbitrary and capricious – there was absolutely no “science” behind any of the restrictions on religious gatherings.

Kristi Noem: The Governor Who Stayed the Course

John Fund, National Review

48-year-old Republican Gov. Kristi Noem didn’t issue a shelter-in-place lockdown order for her state. “The people themselves are primarily responsible for their safety,” she said in a public statement in April. She added that the state and national constitutions “prevent us from taking draconian measures much like the Chinese government has done.” But that didn’t mean South Dakota didn’t take clear steps to control the virus. Noem issued an executive order urging the elderly and those with preexisting conditions to stay home and encouraging employees to practice social distancing and to telework if possible.

Yesterday The S&P 500 Erased Its Losses For 2020 – Liberals Puzzled

The economy and the stock market have come roaring back because the government is getting out of the way – ending lockdowns and promising more deregulation. As obvious as this is, it apparently surprised Democrats, such as New York Times columnist Paul Krugman and Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden. Plus, good news for America, especially good economic news, is bad news for Democrats, so the media continues to downplay the good news.

Are social gatherings infectious? Apparently not if the governor likes your politics

Editors, Washington Examiner

Consistent enforcement of law is a necessary condition for people to respect and obey it. But this is about more than just consistency, it’s about the specific nature of infectious disease. How many times have we heard angry scolds make this point to those who forget their masks or take "unnecessary" walks about their cities? The widespread coronavirus exposure generated by protests is rendering futile all of the excessive pandemic restrictions supposedly protecting grandma. At least have the decency to stop hiding behind science when you tell people they must wait weeks or months more before they can work for a living.

Riots are going to be the end of lockdowns

Editors, Washington Examiner

As the public watches scenes play out in dozens of cities, why should they comply with bans on church gatherings? What is the justification, to keep summer camps, schools, and day care centers closed? The surviving lockdown orders will be made even more difficult to maintain if the mass rioting does not lead to a spike in coronavirus cases a few weeks from now. Densely populated cities have been the hardest hit by the virus. If this mix of largely peaceful demonstrations and violent riots does not cause a spike in new cases, it will weight heavily in the scales against the conventional wisdom favoring sustained shutdowns.

Why Were ‘Experts’ So Wrong About Florida?

Robert Stacy McCain, The American Spectator

It is obvious that politics, rather than science, was the basis of the media's animosity. The governor is not only a Republican, but a close ally of Trump. Because this is a presidential election year, it served the partisan interests of the anti-Trump media establishment to treat DeSantis as a villain. People dying from a virus is not good news, of course, but the fact that Florida’s COVID-19 death rate is so much lower than big blue states deserves some acknowledgement. The anti-Trump media decided two months ago to make Ron DeSantis a villain, however, and it seems that no “fact-based truth” will ever change their minds.
