Red Flag laws

Conservative Leaders Tell Congress No Red Flag Laws

The Conservative leaders of the Conservative Action Project representing over 100 organizations from all elements of the conservative movement have issued a statement expressing their opposition to the enactment of so-called Red Flag laws at the state or federal level. These laws trample on the constitutional rights of Americans. And they do nothing to prevent mass shootings.

Conservatives Ready To Stay Home If Trump Joins Dems On Guns?

We don’t think the President’s advisors necessarily understand what the gun debate is all about from the conservative side. Certainly, part of it is the details of the policy, but the more important part is the breach of trust that abandoning his promise to defend the Second Amendment would entail.

House Democrats to Take up Gun Confiscation Bills Today

We know the House Democrats can pass virtually any gun control measure they want. The real challenge is to make sure that House Republicans don’t join them. Because if they do, then that will cause Senate Republicans to defect in large numbers and gun control will pass both chambers of Congress, putting constitutional liberty in dire jeopardy.

Red Flag Laws Are Lethal Leftist Weapons

Mark Smith, The American Spectator

These proposed Red Flag laws tap into legitimate fears. Nobody wants to face a maniac wielding a gun, or any weapon for that matter. But gun grabbers aren’t interested in giving law enforcement agencies the resources they need to take guns from convicted felons. Nor will the Left likely endorse calls for a greater use of civil commitment of the mentally ill. And activists certainly do not want to allow ordinary Americans, who are the real “first responders” to any violent attack, to be armed to fight back against violent, evil thugs. No, those railing against gun ownership wants to disarm all of society.

Independent Gun Dealers Are Cornerstones Of Liberty

In recognition of the position of independent gun stores as the cornerstone of liberty, I think I’ll make an excursion through the local gun stores and buy myself another gun, not because I need one, but simply because I want to send the signal to Walmart, Dick’s, Bank of America and Citibank that this is still a relatively free country and I intend to keep it that way.

The Part Of The Second Amendment No One Reads

To Julian Castro, and those few misguided gun owners who might be tempted to agree with him, I am forced to point out that the Second Amendment, and the rights it protects, have nothing to do with hunting. We urge CHQ readers and friends to share this article widely and to call their Representative and Senators through the toll-free Capitol Switchboard (1-866-220-0044) and to let President Trump know via the White House comment line (1-202-456-1111) that the Second Amendment is not negotiable.

Conservative Action Project: Congress And President Trump Must Protect Second Amendment Rights

Eighty-one leaders of the Conservative Action Project yesterday issued a statement calling upon President Trump and Congress to protect the Second Amendment rights of all citizens. In particular, the statement called into question the constitutionality of universal background checks, assault weapons bans, gun registries, and red flag laws.

‘Red Flag’ Laws Are the Wrong Solution to Mass Shootings

Thomas Massie and John R. Lott Jr., National Review

The evidence shows no benefits from red-flag laws. Looking at data from 1970 through 2017, these laws had no significant effect on murder, suicide, mass-public-shooting fatalities, robbery, aggravated assault, or burglary. These laws do not save lives. As a whole, the rest of the world has much higher murder rates from mass public shootings than does the U.S. (including major European countries). Everyone wants to stop mass public shooters. But we haven’t previously punished people on the basis of little more than a hunch, without any specific guidelines in place. Stopping “future crimes” didn’t work in the movies, and it doesn’t work in real life.

Gun Grabbers Never Let A Tragedy Go To Waste

Virginia's Democrat Governor Ralph Northam is calling a special session of the legislature to consider a package of new gun control bills. The aftermath of any tragedy is when respect for constitutional liberty is at its weakest and political considerations are at their strongest. Go to https://www.vcdl.org/ to learn how you can contact your Virginia Delegate or Senator to help fight this latest Democrat gun grab.

Ban On Bump Stocks To Begin March 26

According to the notice in the Federal Register, the Department of Justice is amending the regulations of the ATF to clarify that bump-stock-type devices - meaning “bump fire” stocks, slide-fire devices, etc. - are “machineguns” as defined by the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968. Gun owners have responded by filing a federal lawsuit in the Western District of Michigan.

Rubio Leads The Gun Grabbers

Red Flag laws sound reasonable, as gun confiscation laws often do, but here’s how it worked in Maryland. Answering a 5:00 a.m. knock on his door, Gary J. Willis, a 61-year-old resident of Maryland, was shot and killed by police when they were attempting to confiscate his firearms under the state’s “Red Flag” law.
