Should Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar Be Stoned To Death For Adultery?

Ilhan Omar Affair
Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5) has been asked on numerous occasions whether she agrees with or will condemn various barbaric punishments prescribed in the Quran or Sharia law, and she has consistently refused to do so.

Omar has also described her rather checked marital history, including two marriages and maybe two, maybe not divorces, as taking place according to her “faith tradition.”

So, would it not be perfectly plausible, even mandatory, to apply that same faith tradition to her alleged adultery, as outlined in the recent petition for divorce, filed by Dr. Beth Mynett, wife of Rep. Omar’s sometime political consultant Tim Mynett?

Islam has always regarded adultery (e.g. Quran 25:68 or 60:12) and same-sex behavior (Quran 26:165-166 or 29:29) as serious crimes. The Quran defined the penalty for adultery as lifetime house arrest (4:15), which exegetes think was then abrogated by 24:2, which specifies whipping with 100 lashes.

According to the Quran, Sura An-Nur - Verse 2: The fornicatress and the fornicator, scourge you each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for them withhold you from enforcing the sentence of Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.

Notice that the Quranic verse does not provide for the death penalty for adultery or fornication, that is arrived at through the hadith and Sharia law which are central to Islamic jurisprudence. The usual method of execution specified is stoning to death.

Here is an example from Central Afghanistan. The female party to the adultery is placed in a shoulder-deep hole and then pummeled with stones, by the way, the male party in the video receives only lashes, delivered in a somewhat desultory fashion.

Fortunately for Ilhan Omar, America is still a secular state with laws derived from the Judeo-Christian tradition, so she is unlikely to be stoned to death or receive 100 lashes.

However, the Quran specifies other punishments for adultery which Omar’s devout Muslim constituents might consider.

Sura An-Nur - Verse 3 says: The fornicator shall not marry save a fornicatress or an idolatress, and the fornicatress, none shall marry her save a fornicator or an idolater; and all that is forbidden unto the believers.

What this means is that the adulteress should be shunned by all devout Muslims and be relegated to the company of idolaters. This verse could be reasonably interpreted to prohibit devout Muslims from supporting or voting for Ilhan Omar thus punishing her with defeat in the 2020 election.

But we need not rely upon the barbarities of Ilhan Omar’s “faith tradition” to apply legal sanctions to her illicit acts, because it turns out that in addition to allegedly carrying on an affair with Mr. Mynett, Omar was also funneling campaign cash to him.

According to campaign filings Omar’s campaign has paid Mynett and his E Street Group about $230,000 since 2018, including $70,000 since late April, which according to the timeline set forth in Dr. Beth Mynett’s divorce complaint, is not long after Mynett informed his wife that he was romantically involved with and in love with Ilhan Omar.

According to the divorce filing, Tim Mynett began “conveniently asserting after their separation that he is nearly broke, and his business is floundering,” so a $70,000 cash infusion from Ilhan Omar’s campaign would be welcome, but possibly illegal, help for Mynett, according to Peter Flaherty, head of conservative watchdog group The National Legal and Policy Center.

In remarks quoted by the New York Post’s Nikki Schwab and Julia Marsh, Flaherty said, “This arrangement where Ilhan is paying her lover consulting fees could be illegal if he’s not doing the work.”

Ilhan Omar has a record of playing fast and loose with campaign finance laws, as complaints currently being reviewed in Minnesota show, so an investigation into exactly what kind of work Mynett was being paid to do is in order.

As appropriate as Quranic punishment for Rep. Ilhan Omar might appear, we think a better result would be for her devout Muslim constituents, her Democratic Party colleagues and the Federal Election Commission to all recognize her for the fraud and serial law-breaker that she is, and remove her as a stain on our body politic in the 2020 election, if not before.

Should Omar be stoned for adultery?

Short answer: yes

Omar should be stoned

If other Muslims who commit adultery be stoned according to Sharia Law than
she should also be stoned.

Stoning Omar

Absolutely ! She's a practicing Muslim, the Koran demands it !

If this screwball actually believes in her so-called religion she should demand to be stoned.
