Anti-Trump Inauguration Protestors Frozen Out

Several thousand protesters took to the streets in the District of Columbia as part of the so-called “People's March.” The crowd estimated at between 10 and 20K demonstrators gathered in pockets between Franklin Park, McPherson Sq, and Farragut Square was

organized by a disparate group of activist organizations Saturday which was to culminate in a mass rally near the Lincoln Memorial.

The number of participants paled in comparison to the inaugural protests of Trump’s first term in 2017 according to The Hill. The outlet reported that the reduced number of protesters was explained by experts as reflecting a change in the groups’ strategy as well as “fatigue among some advocates.” CNN referred to the activists as a “beat-down” resistance.

People's March organizer Tamika Middleton justified the low-turnout to NPR in an interview saying, "We never set out to try to meet or exceed that first march.” She claimed, “We're in a different place, and we're in a different moment."

"We have to – at this time – not just mobilize people to show up and say, hey, on this day, I'm registering my dissent or my resistance to a Trump presidency," she said. "We have to get people to show up and then continue to show up because every single day we're preparing for attacks on immigrant folks, on LGBTQ folks, on poor folks, on women."

Aside from limited instances of vandalism and basic leftist rhetoric as reported by Oliya Scootercaster with "Go Home Fascists" and "Eat The Rich" posters pasted to utility control boxes.

As reported by The Post Millennial the protests had a character of being both anti-Trump and anti-Police, stirring a distant, weakened echo of the BLM and Antifa riots and demonstrations of 2020, with marchers targeting Elon Musk with a great deal of invective chanting  "Elon Musk has got to go!" and "Lock him up!"

The outlet noted that protesters were led by organizers shouting "Middle finger to the law," repeatedly, "F*ck cops and f*ck ICE,” and, "These racist pigs have got to go."

As noted by The Associated Press, the march, initially branded the “Women’s March” in the spirit of the large 2017 demonstration, was reportedly rebranded and reorganized as the “People’s March” in great haste to incorporate what the AP called “a broader set of goals around women’s and reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, immigration, climate and democracy,” citing Middleton. The organizer told reporters she  "sees the need for everyone to be included in the fight against what is coming.”

TPUSA contributor and activist for women in sports Riley Gaines attended the Saturday march and characterized the activists in attendance as “deceived,” with “misguided anger and hatred.” She wrote in a post to X, “I attended the People's March this morning. I engaged in conversations with activists of all sorts. It's tragic how deeply deceived so many of them are. They fully believe the lies they've been told about Trump, America's history, etc. So much misguided anger and hatred.”

Breitbart News reported that only two American flags were visible to its reporters during the march to the Capital, and one of them was flown upside down signaling distress. The protestors estimated 25,000 in number were largely pro-abortion activists the outlet said.

Conversely, among the thousands who attended President Trump’s campaign-style rally in Washington, D.C. and subsequent events throughout the weekend and Monday, the mood was described as celebratory and “high energy,” despite brutal cold and inclement weather.

As Monday progresses thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump have gathered inside Capital One Arena in D.C. in a weather-modified variant of the inaugural parade.

Speaking with The Washington Times, Joseph Repici, 36, said that he had traveled to D.C. and expected to encounter a large number of anti-Trump protesters and was surprised.

“It is suspicious,” he said. “There have been a couple of people with bull horns screaming about Trump being an insurrectionist and stuff, but like, they were just individuals.”

“I just expected like a wall of people coming,” Repici said. “That’s why I’m on the outside of the crowd because I don’t want to get caught up in anything.”

As a group of Proud Boys marched past on the DC streets carrying pro-Trump and anti-ANTIFA signs Respici said he was left looking for the counter protest. “It is like, ‘OK, where’s the counter today’?” he said. “Yes, it’s a little quiet, in my opinion. That’s suspicious.”

The cold weather, coupled with demoralization appear to have deprived the anti-Trump protests of any energy or momentum, while the President’s supporters appear to have adapted and overcome.
