During last year’s Biden State of the Union address Joe rolled-out what he (or rather his handlers) called the “Biden Unity Agenda.” No one heard another word about “unity” from Biden for another year, until last night’s SOTU.
And even then “unity” was pretty hard to find.
Instead, what Joe delivered was a litany of divisive Far Left “woke” policy prescriptions that Democrats seem to think qualify as accomplishments, but most Americans outside the Beltway or academia find baffling, annoying or completely at odds with the reality of America as governed by Joe Biden.
As just one of the more obvious examples, let’s focus on Joe’s “commitment” to end the plague of fentanyl smuggling that kills over 71,000 Americans a year.
According to statistics released by Biden’s own administration, in just the last year Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has seized a historic 260,000 pounds of illicit drugs primarily at ports of entry on our border, including nearly 15,000 pounds of fentanyl. And federal agents were involved in the seizure of more than 26,000 pounds of fentanyl in FY22—including 50.6 million fentanyl-laced counterfeit prescription pills—along with over 6,500 pounds of heroin, 335,000 pounds of methamphetamine, and 370,000 pounds of cocaine.
And, as House Oversight and Investigations Committee Chairman James Comer pointed out in a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, “The Biden Administration’s talking point—wholly divorced from reality—that it is working to create a “safe, orderly, and humane” immigration system is rhetoric so out-of-touch that its repetition only raises additional concerns. The current state of the southern border is dangerous, chaotic, and inhumane as smugglers continue to profit from the Biden Administration’s self-inflicted crisis. The Biden border policies have put America on a path to destruction with fentanyl flowing across the border and becoming a leading cause of death among Americans.”
Yet, Joe Biden can go on national TV and stand before the American people and say with a straight face he is going to “solve” the fentanyl crisis.
Here’s what Biden said about the fentanyl crisis:
Fentanyl is killing more than 70,000 Americans a year.
Let’s launch a major surge to stop fentanyl production, sale, and trafficking, with more drug detection machines to inspect cargo and stop pills and powder at the border.
Working with couriers like Fed Ex to inspect more packages for drugs. Strong penalties to crack down on fentanyl trafficking.
Second, let’s do more on mental health, especially for our children. When millions of young people are struggling with bullying, violence, trauma, we owe them greater access to mental health care at school.
We must finally hold social media companies accountable for the experiment they are running on our children for profit.
And it’s time to pass bipartisan legislation to stop Big Tech from collecting personal data on kids and teenagers online, ban targeted advertising to children, and impose stricter limits on the personal data these companies collect on all of us.
There’s not one word about Red China – where most of the fentanyl and precursor chemicals come from.
Nor is there any acknowledgment that the open southern border contributes mightily to the problem by making importing vast quantities of drugs almost risk-free if one avoids the ports of entry.
We could do the same analysis of Joe Biden’s remarks about the economy and unemployment, in each case he bragged about “fixing” a problem he and his Democrat allies in Congress created through printing money, declaring war on fossil fuels and locking down the economy during the Red Chinese bioweapons attack known as the COVID pandemic.
The good news, if you can call it that, is that Republicans in Congress recognize Joe Biden’s role in the fentanyl disaster and didn’t let him get away with being both the arsonist and the fireman.
“It’s your fault!” one Congress member could be heard yelling from the GOP side of the aisle after the president noted that thousands of Americans are being killed every year by the deadly drug — which many blame his administration for letting slip through the southern border.
Several Republicans, clearly incensed over Biden’s earlier claim that “a record number of personnel” at the border have seized “over 23,000 pounds of fentanyl in just the last several months,” shouted, “border,” at the president, leading him to pause, and one Republican was heard yelling, “It came from China,” one of the top exporters of the deadly synthetic opioid, reported the New York Post.
Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-2) calculated on Tuesday that enough fentanyl has been seized at US borders in just the last three months to kill over a billion people.
Burchett cited Customs and Border Patrol figures during a congressional hearing on the border crisis Tuesday that show some 9,400 lbs. of the synthetic drug has been stopped from entering the country since October.
“That’s enough fentanyl to kill every American five times over,” Burchett pointed out.
After his speech, firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) called Biden “the Mexican cartel’s best business partner.”
“And their business is murdering Americans with Chinese-made fentanyl,” Taylor Greene added.
MTG is right and Republicans must not let Joe Biden and the Democrats gets away with being both the arsonist and the fireman in the fentanyl epidemic. The Capitol Switchboard is (202) 224-3121 we urge CHQ readers and friends to call their Senators and Representative, tell them you want prompt congressional oversight hearings on the Red Chinese role in America’s fentanyl pandemic and the effects of Joe Biden’s intentional refusal to secure the southern border where the vast majority of the fentanyl killing our fellow citizens arrives in America.
