Democrat Run Cities Fail To Learn Lesson From Bloody Weekend

According to an analysis by the “Gun Violence Archive” reported by the UK’s Daily Mail, 142

people were killed in 379 shootings across the US during July Fourth weekend.

Two Chicago police officers were among the weekend's shooting victims. The unidentified officers, who are expected to survive, were shot in the early hours of Monday while trying to disperse an unruly crowd in the city's Washington Park.

The Daily Mail reported Philadelphia and Chicago were the hardest hit: Chicago saw at least 92 people shot, with 16 dead, Philadelphia, 28 were shot - seven people died, and 21 were injured. Dallas and New York recorded at least 36 more shot between them; five are reported to have died across both cities.

The Daily Mail reported this astonishing toll from Philadelphia:

Eleven people were shot, four died and another was stabbed during a six hour orgy of violence in Philadelphia during July 4 celebrations.

Six of those 11 shot were teenagers aged between 15 and 19.

The grim toll included a double murder where more than 100 shots rang out.

Shortly after 10:30pm on Sunday, more than 100 bullets ripped through a West Philadelphia barbeque, hitting 22-year-old Sincarr Johnson Jr. in the head, a 23-year-old man multiple times in the torso and a 16-year-old girl in the butt and leg.

Johnson Jr. and the 23-year-old, who hasn't been identified, died. The teenager is in stable condition, police said.

On Saturday, three people were fatally shot, including a six-year-old boy in the Northeast section of the city.

What is most interesting about the breathless reporting by the Daily Mail and the grim statistics compiled by the “Gun Violence Archive” is that neither of them makes any connection between the defund the police efforts in these cities, the refusal of prosecutors to prosecute a long list of crimes and the hordes of feral humans those policies have loosed on urban America.

Indeed, in New York it appears another “get out of jail free” prosecutor is about to be elected.

Far Left Democrat Alvin Bragg appears to have won the Democrat nomination for Manhattan District Attorney. If he wins the general election, Bragg will become the first Black leader of the prominent prosecutors' office, reported CNN.

"This has been a long journey that started in Harlem. And today, that 15-year old boy who was stopped numerous times at gunpoint by the police is the Democratic nominee to be Manhattan District Attorney," Bragg said in a statement to CNN. "We are one step closer to making history and transforming the District Attorney's office to deliver safety and justice for all."

Bragg said in a statement Friday that he is committed to ending racial disparities and mass incarceration, and campaigned not to prosecute low level crimes, his Republican opponent Thomas Keniff, a former prosecutor, JAG lawyer, Iraq war veteran, said he disagrees with.

As the New York Post's Tom Hogan pointed out, Bragg apparently wants the Manhattan DA’s Office to emulate the prosecutors’ offices in Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore and San Francisco should alarm the NYPD and law-abiding citizens.

These are precisely the offices inviting ­violence and disorder in their cities, a veritable Murderers’ Row of prosecutors encouraging murder observed Hogan.

Digging further into his plans reveals some truly radical proposals, concluded Mr. Hogan. First, Bragg will ­immediately begin de-prosecuting certain offenses, refusing to punish violations of duly ­enacted criminal laws. These ­include resisting arrest, trespassing, fare evasion, marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license and any traffic violation.

Manhattan apparently must accept disorder on the sidewalks, streets and subways; the police must prepare for ­resistance at every arrest.

For those offenses that are prosecuted, Bragg announced plans to allow just about every offender to walk free the same day. “Non-incarceration is the outcome for every case, except those with charges of homicide or the death of a victim, a class-B violent felony in which a deadly weapon causes serious physical injury or felony sex offenses,” his campaign materials read. Will offenders who shoot at people and miss, armed robbers who display a gun but don’t fire it, drug dealers and felons in possession of firearms all be ­released the same day they are arrested?

Apparently not.

It appears that Far Left voters in New York, and the cities Mr. Bragg plans to emulate, want more weekends and death tolls like they experienced over July 4, 2021, because that’s what they will get as long as they keep letting criminals back on the street and blaming guns, not criminals, for the murders they commit.
