Until “wokeness” started bending American history into an unrecognizable anti-reality Americans were taught the most important words in the Declaration of Independence are,
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Often left undiscussed are the reasons the Signers of the Declaration concluded that they were unable to attain these God-given rights under the rule of the British monarchy.
Before setting out their reasons for declaring their independence the Signers of the Declaration of Independence provided this short explanation of the rights of all human beings to order their society to best provide for the attainment of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness:
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
The crucial point was this – that when government becomes destructive of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness it is the right of the people to abolish it and to institute a new government. The Signers then set out a list of outrages and usurpations that they found to be justification for withdrawing their consent to be governed by the King of England.
The Declaration lists some 27 grievances the Signers found that justified the decision to declare independence and by our count it is fair to say that today better than half of them could be laid against Democrats and the Joe Biden government.
Here’s a first draft of our list of grievances paired with their colonial predecessors:
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have made a mockery of the legislative process and spent the first six months of his term passing laws designed to create havoc in virtually every aspect of American life; from energy policy, to law and order, to education.
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have passed laws that discriminate against entire races and states and threatened to withhold federal funds from and sued states that did not bow to their Leftist agenda.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have regularly threatened to pack the Supreme Court with more judges and have announced plans to create hundreds of new federal judges to engage in lawfare against the states and individuals who oppose their Leftist agenda.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have announced plans for a vast growth in the bureaucracy of the federal government, including 89,000 new Internal Revenue Service agents, to pursue their Leftist agenda, especially to impose “equity” and Critical Race Theory on a reluctant populace.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have protected the murderer of Ashli Babbitt and have threatened Americans who disagree with them with military force, including nuclear weapons.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation.
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have announced huge tax increases and continue to spend prodigiously, beyond even the most optimistic revenue projections.
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have caused the arrest of hundreds of January 6 protesters, transported them to the District of Columbia far from their homes and kept them in solitary confinement without bail, and attacked the duly passed laws of states, such as Georgia and Florida.
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury.
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences.
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighboring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies.
Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have allowed and encouraged the destruction of our cities through violent riots that burned and plundered businesses and homes and murdered anyone who opposed the rioters.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
Of course, there are a few of the list of colonial-era grievances that don’t have an obvious modern equivalent – such as the grievance over the quartering of troops – but we think the importation and quartering of millions of illegal aliens to “eat up our substance” fills that hole in the list of grievances rather well.
As the Signers of the Declaration of Independence proclaimed, “…when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.” By our count, Biden, Pelosi and Schumer are over halfway through the requisite 27 grievances to get to the point where Americans will start considering a 21st century Declaration of Independence – and we’re only six months into the Joe Biden presidency.

We don't need a new declaration or a new Constitution. We just need to reaffirm the original and require that the Constitution actually be followed.
A new Constitution is not needed we just need to go back to our original Constitution. Congress and the Supreme Court have made a mockery of our original Constitution.
Well, I suppose, we now know how the South felt. Of course, declaring their independence from what they considered an abusive and tyrannical government didn't work out too well for them...And now that the -rat party secret police have declared war on the 72million voters who supported Trump, I'm guessing we're just as screwed as the Old South...if not moreso.
I stand for our founding documents as written. The attacks on our Constitution and Bill of Rights are unconstitutional and completely unwise. Stay the course patriots and vote out of office any and all legislators who attempt to violate or change our founding documents!
What about a New Constitution or at least an Amendment to the Constitution to make Christianity the national religion. The ACLU made this country a secular, atheistic country back in 1962 when they took prayer and Bible reading out of our public classrooms. We need religion in our lives. That's what our Founding Fathers like John Adams told us.
