Stephen Moore: Pelosi Can Only Lose Four House Democrats To Pass 'Inflation Acceleration Act'

Our friend Stephen Moore sent us a small item of encouragement in yesterday’s Unleash Prosperity Hotline. If you don’t subscribe to the Unleash Prosperity Hotline you really should – it’s must read material on the economy, government and politics, and it is free.

Steve said he’s not too optimistic, but the House vote on the Biden-Manchin-Schumer spending package coming up tomorrow is going to be close.

Every Republican is expected to vote no, meaning Pelosi can only lose four House Democrats to get the bill passed.

According to Moore’s analysis, Jared Golden, a Maine Democrat who represents a district that Donald Trump carried by six points, is probably a no. He has just started running a brutal ad back home where he states:

I was the only Democrat to vote against trillions of dollars of President Biden’s agenda because I knew it would make inflation worse,” he says. “In Congress, I’m an independent voice for you, taking on my own party to stand up for Maine families.” Look for that “inflation worse” quote to appear in countless GOP attack ads this fall, says Moore.

Rep. Henry Cuellar, a moderate Democrat from Deep in the Heart of Texas defeated a progressive challenger in his primary. He could defect, noted Moore, given that he represents a district full of oil and gas workers and has not yet signed on to the bill.

Kurt Schrader, a moderate Democrat from Oregon, owes his party no favors says Moore. His liberal state legislature stuffed his district with more liberal voters during redistricting and he lost his May primary to a progressive. He has voted against Biden's spending plans before and now says: “I think the Democratic Party has moved quite a bit to the left, moving out from underneath me. The socialist wing of the party is taking over.

Steve says other House Democrats could be vulnerable to voter pressure: Abigail Spanberger of Virginia, Tom O’Halleran of Arizona, and Jim Costa of California come to mind. Carolyn Bourdeaux, a moderate from Georgia, lost her primary this year to Lucy McBath, a liberal colleague who was redistricted into her seat. She would have nothing to lose by voting against the Manchin-Schumer monstrosity – except a lowly desk job in the Biden administration, concluded Mr. Moore.

In the past, potential liberal defections have also been a problem for Speaker Pelosi when she presented the House Democrats with a spending bill negotiated in the Senate.

When Pelosi brought Biden’s signature “infrastructure” bill to the Floor six Far Left House Democrats broke from their party to vote against the bill:

Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York

Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York

Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota

Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts

Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan

Of course, that monstrosity was saved by 13 Republicans, several of whom are now on their way out of Congress after being defeated by more conservative opponents in their respective primaries.

As of right now, no one is predicting liberal defections on the so-called Inflation Reduction Act and with Steve Moore and others predicting a solid Republican NO vote, it looks like it all comes down to the vulnerable Democrats.

The United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 we urge ConservativeHQ readers and friends to call the following Democrats and urge them to vote NO on the inaptly named “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Rep. Jared Golden of Maine

Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas

Rep. Kurt Schrader of Oregon

Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia (in a very tight race against CHQ-endorsed conservative Yesli Vega)

Rep. Tom O’Halleran of Arizona

Rep. Jim Costa of California

Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux of Georgia

  • Nancy Pelosi

  • Inflation reduction act

  • inflation acceleration act

My comment is in regard to the Constitutionality of this fiasco bill. This bill originated in the senate. "Article 1, Section 7. 1. All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other bills."

The way I read this clause, this bill was improperly proposed and is, therefore, Unconstitutional. I haven't seen this brought up anywhere and I think it is an important point to make in the conversation.

Replying to

It seems you are so right. But Congress has so convoluted their rules to enable fiasco's like this to take place. Wish Congress would just go back to what the original writing of the rules intended and the lives of US Citizens would be much better.

I'd sure like to think that there are a few Dems that see that this travesty of a bill would do just the opposite of the fake label that was put on the bill. Some of us continue to pray that there are a few Dems with some COMMON SENSE. Biden, AG Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray have destroyed any credibility in their decisions on what is best for citizens of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Let's just hope and Pray that there are at least 4 Representatives in Congress that have the honesty and credibility to DO THE RIGHT THING.
