Surprise: Kevin McCarthy Continues To Keep His Promises

We think it is fair to say that conservatives have been burned so many times by establishment Republicans promising one thing and then doing the opposite that our

skepticism of Kevin McCarthy’s commitment to keep the promises that got him the necessary votes to become Speaker of the House was more than justified.

Although it seems a little strange to thank someone for not lying, when Speaker McCarthy makes good on one of the key promises he made to conservatives we think some recognition is in order.

But Speaker McCarthy’s decision to keep Democrat Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff off the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is a big deal, both from a political and policy perspective, and deserves our praise.

“I cannot put partisan loyalty ahead of national security, and I cannot simply recognize years of service as the sole criteria for membership on this essential committee. Integrity matters more,” McCarthy wrote in a letter to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries that he posted on Twitter Tuesday night.

In the letter, McCarthy added that “it is my assessment that the misuse of this panel during the 116th and 117th Congresses severely undermined its primary national security and oversight missions – ultimately leaving our nation less safe,” and that he wants the panel to be one of “genuine honesty and credibility that regains the trust of the American people.”

Naturally the Democratic Party stenographers in the establishment media weren’t happy with Speaker McCarthy’s decision, but to the surprise of conservatives McCarthy was having none of their complaints.

As chair of the Intelligence Committee, McCarthy told reporters Schiff used "his power as a chairman and lied to the American public. Even the inspector general said it. When Devin Nunes put out a memo, [Schiff] said it was false. When we had a laptop, he used it before an election to [play] politics and say that it was false and said it was the Russians when he knew different, when he knew the Intel… He used his position as chairman, knowing he has information the rest of America does not, and lied to the American public."

"So, no, [Schiff] does not have a right to sit on it [the Intel Committee]. But I will not be like Democrats and play politics with these where they removed Republicans from committees and all committees. So, yes, he can serve on a committee, but he will not serve on Intel because it goes to the national security of America and I will always put them first," McCarthy answered.

He responded similarly regarding Swalwell’s past scandal compromising himself with his close connection to a Chinese spy, telling reporters, "You have not had the briefing that I had."

"I had the briefing and Nancy Pelosi had the briefing from the FBI. The FBI never came before this Congress to tell the leadership of this Congress that Eric Swalwell had a problem with the Chinese spy until he served on Intel," McCarthy continued.

"So it wasn't just us who were concerned about it, the FBI was concerned about putting a member of Congress on the Intel committee that has the rights to see things that others don't, because of his knowledge and relationship with a Chinese spy," said the Speaker.

And the complaints from Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) ARE totally disingenuous.

Democrats have a long history of abusing classified intelligence, leaking and in some cases giving it to our enemies. In the modern era, you can start with the fellow travelers like Alger Hiss and draw a straight line to Rep. Ron Dellums giving classified material to the Communist rulers of Grenada, to the intelligence leaks to discredit President Trump coming from Schiff and Swalwell, to former Obama White House and national security officials.

The spying on political opponents, the leaks to undermine the legitimate government of the United States and to destroy the reputations of political opponents all tell us one thing – these leaks are confirming an old Republican criticism that Democrats really hate: "Democrats can't be trusted with national security."

We urge conservatives to call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 thank Speaker Kevin McCarthy for keeping Democrat Representatives Schiff and Swalwell off the House Intelligence Committee, but that the job is not done yet. Tell the Speaker you appreciate his actions against Schiff and Swalwell, but Rep. Omar, who has publicly allied herself with the anti-American terrorist organizations The Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, needs to similarly barred from serving on the Foreign Relations and other committees that grant access to government secrets.

Nice start for McCarthy. Ilhan " I Married My Brother" Omar needs to be next.

All Republicans talk a great game. Let's see what they actually accomplish in the next two years. I'm from Missouri when it comes to politics--show me . . . !
