After the social media giants Twitter and Facebook banned President Trump and
conservatives began a mass move to free speech social media platform Parler the now-empowered woke mob went after Amazon to remove Parler from its commercial hosting service - Amazon Web Services.
And it will surprise no one that Amazon responded by announcing that it was immediately suspending Parler from its webhosting service.
An email reported by BuzzFeed and The Hill states that Parler would be available to web hosting service users until Sunday at 11:59 p.m. PST when the suspension goes into effect.
So, by the time you get this newsletter Parler will be offline.
Parler CEO John Matze confirmed the news in a post on his platform, calling the suspension “an attempt to completely remove free speech from the internet.”
The sweep threatens to cut Parler off from its entire audience. Not only will new users be unable to find Parler on the internet's two largest app stores, even those who've already downloaded the app will be unable to use it because it will be unable to communicate with Parler's servers on AWS, reported CNN Business.
After Amazon boots the company from its web hosting service, Parler's website could be offline for as long as a week while "we rebuild from scratch," Matze said in a post on his platform.
As it seeks a new host, Parler may be unavailable as it rebuilds from scratch, Matze said, although many providers are “competing” for its business. “This was a coordinated attack by tech giants to kill competition in the marketplace,” Matze said in his announcement.
Matze wrote in a message on his platform that Apple "will be banning Parler until we give up free speech, institute broad and invasive policies like Twitter and Facebook and we become a surveillance platform by pursuing guilt of those who use Parler before innocence."
"They claim it is due to violence on the platform," Matze wrote of Apple, whom he also accused of being a "software monopoly," a particularly relevant attack right now given an ongoing antitrust suit against Apple from Fortnite maker Epic Games. "The community disagrees as we hit number 1 on their store today," CNN Business reported.
Matze promised to share "more details about our next plans coming soon as we have many options."
Conservatives immediately denounced the move, with conservative leaders, such as our friend Rick Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government issuing the following statement in reaction to Big Tech collusion to censor competition:
The collusion of Amazon, Apple and Google to shut down the social media sharing site Parler – Facebook and Twitter’s competition – is a continuation of their attack on the free expression of ideas. Silicon Valley has moved from being a model of American innovation to being arbitrary arbiters of thought. Their actions to shut down competing ideas must be met with immediate state and federal anti-trust action, which the Supreme Court should hear immediately. The actions Amazon, Apple and Google have taken are dangerous and show that the concentration of power in their hands has turned them into tyrants deciding what people should see and think. These companies should cease and desist from their abuse of power immediately.
How the coordinated efforts to destroy a competitor by the tech giants Google, Apple and Amazon pass anti-trust scrutiny is beyond us – but in this time of two-tiered justice they may get away with it. The toll-free Capitol Switchboard (1-866-220-0044), tell Republican Senators and Representatives that it is only a matter of time until they too are banned and demand that anti-trust action be taken against the tech oligarchy.
