If the attempted theft of the 2020 presidential election wasn’t enough to convince you that
Democrats will go to any length to create a totalitarian society with themselves and their Leftist allies in the media and academia as the oligarchs in charge, consider the following orders and mandates regarding the celebration of Thanksgiving from Democrat elected officials.
Oregon's Democrat Governor Kate Brown said Friday that she intends to take a much harder line to enforce her new “freeze” order that limits the size of social gatherings to no more than six people.
Mike Rogoway of OregonLive.com reported the Democrat governor warned that violations are misdemeanors punishable by citation or arrest, and Brown said she would work with state police and local law enforcement to “encourage Oregonians to comply with her directive.”
The order also restricts gatherings to six people from no more than two households. In Multnomah County, where infections are especially severe, Brown said the freeze would last for at least four weeks.
Health authorities attribute the state’s soaring infection rates to reckless social gatherings, including an unspecified Halloween party that allegedly attracted 100 people last month. That kind of thing must stop, Brown said Friday, according to Mr. Rogoway’s reporting.
“I will take a stronger legal action as appropriate,” Brown said, according to Rogoway’s report. “I’ve already directed the superintendent of state police to begin to work with local law enforcement to legally enforce the informal social gathering orders.”
Editor’s Note: Multnomah County is Portland, Oregon where hundreds of ANTIFA-BLM rioters gather daily in large groups and squalid encampments without fear of prosecution or arrest.
New York’s Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo has issued a similar order, and the worst Mayor in America, New York’s Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio did Cuomo one better and told New Yorkers not to travel out of state for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays to prevent another wave of the coronavirus in the Big Apple.
In California, arrogant and hypocritical Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a month-long curfew covering nearly all Californians. The curfew starting right before Thanksgiving week will shut down non-essential work and gatherings from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and applies to all counties in the most restrictive “purple tier” of California’s reopening plan. The order will remain in effect until Dec. 21.
However, “essential businesses,” such as grocery stores, will be exempted. However, restaurants may offer takeout-only after 10 p.m. and people can walk their dogs during curfew hours, demonstrating how completely arbitrary and capricious Newsom’s order is.
Fortunately, an increasing number of Americans, including many elected officials, are defying these totalitarian edicts from Democrat Mayors and Governors.
In Orange County, California hundreds of protestors gathered to send a message to Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying they won't follow the new guidelines.
The people gathered at 10 p.m. Saturday along Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street, crossing the highway when allowed by the traffic light, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Ryan Reilly.
Speaking into a microphone, one woman addressed the crowd and said: "Patriots are uniting, and we're gonna stand and we are going to fight for our rights. We are Americans, and they will never take our rights away."
A similar rally was also held in San Clemente, California where protesters were seen burning masks.
So far, some 13 California sheriffs and other law enforcement agencies have said they will refuse to enforce the Democrat Governor’s arbitrary and capricious orders.
In New York, sheriffs in some upstate counties have come out against the order, saying they won't use police resources to enforce the 10-person cap on Thanksgiving gatherings at private residences.
"Who and how many people you invite [into] your home is your business," Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino wrote in a viral Facebook post Sunday, adding that he'll leave it up to the people in his county to make the right decisions on their own and that entering homes to "see how many Turkey or Tofu eaters are present" isn't a priority for his office.
Giardino wrote that the order may even be unconstitutional: "Frankly, I am not sure it could sustain a Constitutional challenge in Court for several reasons including your house is your castle. And as a Sheriff with a law degree I couldn't in good faith attempt to defend it [in] Court, so I won't."
And in Oregon, Tootie Smith, who is the incoming chairwoman of Clackamas Board of County Commissioners, and a Republican, slammed Oregon Gov Kate Brown for lockdown rules, saying “My family will celebrate Thanksgiving with as many family and friends as I can find. Gov Brown is WRONG to order otherwise.”
In another Facebook post on Sunday, reported by the UK’s Daily Mail, Smith said: “As for my family, it is always their choice to celebrate Thanksgiving or any other holiday…”
“The people I represent are informed, intelligent and educated citizens of the US and Clackamas County. They understand the guidelines set forth for Covid prevention listed by the CDC: wear masks in public, wash hands, six feet distancing and stay home when sick,” Smith said.
She added: “I believe my citizens can make their own informed decisions and maintain their personal rights.”
The sheriff and the district attorney of Linn County, in west-central Oregon, said they "understand the realities of COVID-19, but we draw the line when we are dealing with decisions relating to individual residences, religion, or businesses."
"We are going to continue to educate citizens, as needed, and that is where we will stop. We trust citizens to assess risk and take precautions as appropriate given their individual circumstances," District Attorney Doug Marteeny and Sheriff Jim Yon wrote according to reporting by Andrew Selsky of the Associated Press.
In Buffalo, New York, a gathering of about 50 business owners and their supporters inside a gym shut down by Covid-19 restrictions turned into a confrontation with Erie County authorities Friday night.
Maki Becker of BuffaloNews.com reported video of the incident shows an Erie County health inspector accompanied by three sheriff's deputies arriving about 20 minutes after the gathering began.
"It absolutely was a protest – inside my building," said the gym's owner, Robby Dinero, who described the state's rules forcing some businesses to close as arbitrary.
The video, which circulated on social media Saturday morning, shows a tense back and forth, with one deputy pointing out that people weren't wearing masks and the protesters accusing county representatives of trespassing and entering the property without a warrant.
"Get out! Get out!" the group can be heard over and over as the health inspector and deputies exited the gym.
The business owners tell the sheriff it’s “not the law.” The statewide mask mandate is an executive order from Gov. Cuomo and never passed through the legislature.
“You have to leave,” the business owners repeats, “You guys have to leave.” Another man tells them, “You guys need to leave because right now, you’re trespassing without a warrant; you need to leave.”
“[Mass] civil disobedience starts now,” someone else shouts.
“You don’t get to violate the Constitution,” the officials are told. “You don’t circumvent or subvert the Constitution.”
Chants of “Get out” and “We will not comply” erupted from the business owners as the health dept. worker and the sheriffs were ushered off the property.
Before they are cheered off the premises, it was made clear that the business owners were “reported” by an “anonymous” person, according to the health dept. worker, who insisted it was fine for the complaint to be anonymous.
Dinero, the owner of the California Road gym, told The Buffalo News Saturday that there was nothing illegal about the gathering at his gym on Friday.
"I called this meeting together so we could protest the closing of small businesses, the handpicking of winners and losers," Dinero said.
As a protest, Dinero said, the gathering was protected by law.
Dinero pointed out that authorities didn't try to stop Black Lives Matter protests over the summer or celebrations of Joe Biden's victory after the election. "It was no problem for people to come out then," he said.
