Are Democrats panicking?
That’s the impression one could gather as reaction continues rolling in off of last Thursday
night’s first of its kind “interview” of Democrat replacement nominees cackling Kamala Harris and sidekick idiot “Tampon Tim” Walz – and some (insert name here) member of the major establishment media. I’m not sure Democrats put much stock into Kamala’s ability to draw additional support for her fledgling effort from a single 35-or-so minute (actual questioning time) sit down, but if they did, they didn’t achieve it.
For objective observers – and non-objective ones, too – the interview was a joke. CNN’s Dana Bash did toss out a few things that made Kamala squirm a bit (why have you changed your past positions so much?), but on the whole, the interrogation was pretty tame. And Harris clearly didn’t benefit from it in the opinion polls, either. It was the first time the Democrats had to deal with the expectations game and they must not have enjoyed it.
If it was a test, they failed miserably. Let there be more such tests.
In an article titled “Harris momentum stalls, CNN talk didn’t help”, the inimitable Paul Bedard reported at the Washington Examiner over the weekend:
“In the first polling of voters after her long-awaited first televised interview, the momentum of newly-minted Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris appears to have stalled. In a post by the pollster for Rasmussen Reports, momentum appears to now favor former President Donald Trump in the 2024 see-saw race.
“The outfit’s overnight polling of its likely voter sample, typically with a slightly higher percentage of Democrats, showed that the advantage continued to shift to Trump following the Thursday night CNN interview in which Harris gave few details on her plans. Rasmussen’s overnight data shows Trump leading the national popular race 49% to 45%.
“’OH NOOooo…!! This wasn’t supposed to happen! Our latest nightly data point (50% post-Kamala-interview) shows Trump opening up his biggest lead in 10 days,’ said Rasmussen pollster Mark Mitchell on X. He later said the exact numbers are 48.8% for Trump to 45.3% for Harris.”
While this is certainly good news for people in the Trump camp, of which I am one, this may reveal a trend, but will it last?
I haven’t seen any ratings numbers but I’m guessing that not that many people, by comparison to past billings, even saw the interview. First of all, it was taped, not live, was broken up by commercials and the setting, with Harris and Walz seated comfortably opposite a very relaxed looking Dana Bash, didn’t exactly come across as confrontational and antagonistic. Or journalistic.
Put it this way, the “first” Harris/Walz interview was more like a conversation between friends (which undoubtedly it was) than a serious piece of investigative reporting.
If you want the real thing, check out one of the many meetings between J.D. Vance and some self-interested schlep from the establishment media. Then you’ll discover what real resistance is – and also learn just how great Vance is at handling the heat.
Besides, is it just me, or are American voters finally getting wise to the notion that they’re being played? Ever since Kamala Harris took over for senile Joe Biden a couple days after the conclusion of the awesomely successful Republican National Convention in July – and thus sucked the air out of the momentum balloon that opposition party candidates are supposed to enjoy at least for a little while – the establishment media has put on an elaborate ruse concerning Harris’s “rebirth” and “new start”.
It was almost as though the journos had forgotten that just a few days before that, cackling Kamala had been one of the most unpopular politicians in America. And that there were reasons for the citizens’ lack of positive feelings, namely that Harris could barely put together a coherent sentence, she was unapproachable for the people themselves as well as the media. And that there really wasn’t much there from which to build a major party candidacy.
The labels the media was attaching to Kamala didn’t fit, either. Yes, she was a minority (even if Trump did fan the flames of sensationalism by questioning whether she was “black”) and a woman, but let’s face it, there just wasn’t a whole heck of a lot to talk about when it came down to her background and record.
She was vice president. And not a very active one, either.
Kamala’s background was like a news black hole in a galaxy of brightly twinkling shiny objects. She hadn’t been part of the primary season, with boss senile Joe consistently swatting away any inkling that he’d eventually step down due to age or infirmity. The fact is, when Kamala was mentioned within the context of the presidential race, it was for pundits wondering if a “two for one” swap could work for Biden’s replacement.
There were a number of onlookers who speculated that Biden was allowed to propose the June 27th presidential debate because his enemies bet on him screwing up so bad – which he did, of course – that it would effectively end his political career. Which it did.
Don’t forget how shocked Democrat commentators acted when the program concluded that night, as if they’d just seen a ghost float across the stage and position itself in senile Joe’s body. Those people didn’t act like they’d put Biden up to it just to fail spectacularly. No, they’d clearly surmised that Biden would do what he’d always done and make a respectable showing displaying his characteristic and rarely matched ability to package anger and righteous indignation into the consummate Democrat politician.
Senile Joe had made a career out of ticking people off, yet had always managed to recover – with the media’s willing cooperation – to once again become “Lunch bucket Joe”, everyone’s favorite uncle. Recall how he labeled Fox News’s Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch” for asking him a question and then positioned himself in front of Independence Hall and deliver a dark, hateful race-charged speech, but to his backers, nothing could dent that reputation.
Who would’ve ever thought he would flame out so badly in such a forum in late June?
Kamala possessed none of those qualities. For the better part of three and a half years Harris had functioned as senile Joe’s built-in “insurance policy” against ambitious would-be successors getting too close to the incumbent and invoking the 25th Amendment, which practically everyone could still recite the text from memory after its rumored impending use during the Trump years.
Yet Kamala had gone from “insurance policy” to the “joyful” flavor of the moment practically overnight when her turn arose. Democrats practically fell over themselves with delight when Biden (supposedly) agreed to walk away. To claim they were relieved was the understatement of understatements. To Democrats, it felt like the feeling kids used to get in sixth grade when they went to school dreading the exam they hadn’t prepared for only to arrive and find a substitute announcing that the test had been postponed until the teacher returned.
Predictably, the “honeymoon feeling” lasted for a few weeks while the establishment media covered for cackling Kamala. The media – and Democrats – were so relieved at being rid of old goat senile Joe that they didn’t notice, much less protest, when Kamala wasn’t giving them much to discuss in public. They didn’t care. They were too busy marveling at Trump’s slowly descending poll numbers and filled their time slots by speculating who Harris would select as her running mate.
Liberals neglected to mention that there were still Democrats who’d wanted to hold an open mini-convention process so as to choose a nominee who people thought could win. After all, how long did the Obamas take to endorse cackling Kamala again?
But the Kamala furor burned hotter than ever. It’s almost like the Democrats’ glee with being gifted a chance to compete in this year’s election snuffed out their common sense. They believed that the elaborate ruse they’d constructed to protect them was as transparent as Kamala herself.
Add in the addition of “Tampon Tim” Walz and the feeling of euphoria persisted.
Kamala’s interview shattered a lot of illusions, however. Not only did the thirty-five-or-so minutes of actual speaking time reveal that she doesn’t have a platform, it exposed the one thing Democrats had managed to keep hidden since she took over: Harris isn’t likable. Democrats had quite talked themselves into envisioning Harris as a female version of Obama. The spinmeisters had done their best to make her background sound impressive.
Instead of Joe Biden’s hapless vice president, she became a “tough prosecutor”. She wasn’t the “border czar” but merely just charged with discovering the “root causes” of illegal immigration. She wasn’t against fracking, either. And, last Thursday night, Kamala covered it all up by saying her “values hadn’t changed” and she was the same person she always was.
The American people weren’t tricked. They saw that cackling Kamala was indeed the same phony person she’s always been. And all the polish in the world isn’t going to remove the scrapes and dents from that old jalopy. And I’m not just talking about the enormous bags under the cackling one’s eyes, either.
As a side note, shouldn’t they have dressed Kamala up a little bit for that interview? Democrats went out of their way in 2016 to make Hillary Clinton look younger and more appealing… but they’re not doing it for Harris now. And Tim Walz looks like the nosy neighbor that no one can stand. So much for socialism.
In other words, as I’ve been predicting for weeks now, the Democrats’ elaborate façade is clearly starting to be exposed. It will take more than just the semi-useless CNN interview the other night to make the American public – or the semi-persuadable portion of it – wake up, but cracks are developing in the Kamala myth.
Nothing much figures to happen until next week’s ABC face-to-face matchup between cackling Kamala and Trump himself. You can’t help but surmise if Trump holds it together for that one, those “cracks” in Harris’s image will start turning into fissures.

IMO President Trump needs to do two things:
1.Put together a montage of Willie Brown's ex-girlfriend stating her position on the various issues. I think it was Napoleon who said something to the effect of that if your enemy was destroying himself, let him. And the Cacklemaniac is with a doubt her own worst enemy.
2. When the debate gets started, don't waste time attacking her. The liberals will whine and cry about what a terrible racist and sexist you are. Instead, let her destroy herself. Her own stupidity is enough to kill her politically if you'll just let her.
