Trump And Hawley Scorch Liz Cheney Presidential Aspirations

CHQ Staff

Conservatives were struck dumb by the rumors that Wyoming’s RINO Rep. Liz Cheney is

exploring a presidential run, but hey if POLITICO reports it, it must be true.

Nick Niedzwiadek of POLITICO reported earlier this week that Rep. Liz Cheney is keeping open the possibility of running for president at some point despite considerable disdain for her within the pro-Trump faction of the Republican Party.

“I’m not ruling anything in or out — ever is a long time,” Cheney (R-Wyo.), the third-ranking GOP lawmaker in the House of Representatives, told the New York Post in an interview published Monday.

Cheney, the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney and Wyoming’s lone House representative, and, as Mr. Niedzwiadek noted, was the highest-ranking Republican to vote to impeach Donald Trump for his alleged role in inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

Now, what was interesting was not so much Cheney’s unlikely prospect of running for and being elected President, it was her claim to be able to define who should be “disqualified” from running.

While Cheney did not say whether she was looking to run in 2024, reported Niedzwiadek, she did say it should be “disqualifying” to have supported Trump’s efforts to challenge the election results, as a number of potential GOP presidential candidates did.

“I think that we’re going to be in a good position to be able to take the White House,” Cheney said in the interview. “I do think that some of our candidates who led the charge, particularly the senators who led the unconstitutional charge not to certify the election, you know, in my view that’s disqualifying.”

The New York Post’s Juliegrace Brufke reported Rep. Cheney currently faces multiple primary challengers for her House seat, with Trump allies including Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) actively campaigning against her following her decision to vote to impeach the former president.

Cheney said she is “confident” that she will ultimately win her primary despite efforts to unseat her.

“My primary is clearly going to be an important one — I am more than happy anytime and any place to debate anybody who wants to about what happened on Jan. 6 and why our oath of office requires that we make sure that that never happens again,” she said. “And I feel confident about prevailing in my primary.”

One of Cheney’s apparent targets, Missouri’s principled limited government constitutional conservative Senator Josh Hawley, an apparent target of Cheney’s crack about being disqualified, was quick to fire back.

Hawley on Tuesday criticized Cheney saying the anti-Trump lawmaker is “really out of step with GOP voters” and has abandoned her GOP colleagues repeatedly. “This is somebody who has no support in her own caucus, who has hung her own members out to dry over and over,” Hawley said. “I think she’s on an island.”

“Obviously she’s got to stand before voters, but I think that she certainly doesn’t speak for the vast majority of Republicans or people in my state,” he added according to reporting by Breitbart's Joshua Caplan.

The former President for his part used his platform at Save America to scorch the third ranking House Republican saying:

Liz Cheney is polling sooo low in Wyoming, and has sooo little support, even from the Wyoming Republican Party, that she is looking for a way out of her Congressional race. Based on all polling, there is no way she can win. She’ll either be yet another lobbyist or maybe embarrass her family by running for President, in order to save face. This warmongering fool wants to stay in the Middle East and Afghanistan for another 19 years, but doesn’t consider the big picture—Russia and China!

From our perspective President Trump and Senator Hawley are both right on the money in their criticism of Liz Cheney – but if they want to defeat her in the Wyoming GOP primary, they better settle on one candidate and do their best to encourage the others to drop out. Cheney would like nothing better than to split the vote and use the millions she will raise from other RINOs and Democrats to buy her way back to another term.

Let her run for president. She can spend money the way Jeb Bush spent money and still go down in flames as he did. She has every right as a citizen to make a fool of herself. She's already well along that road.

Well, Liz Cheney is a truer conservative than anyone in the whackadoo Trump cult. I can’t imagine voting for her, but at least she respects the Constitution and the country. That’s more than any Trump supporter can say.

If only she could be given the job of vetting a VP candidate for a presidential front runner who's an idiot...then decide that the only possible person for the job would be herself. Then she could run the show from behind the scenes...just like her father, the Prince of Darkness, did with W...or like the -rats are doing now with Beijing Biden.

If the Republican Party were to run Liz Cheney the only thing they would accomplish is the end of the Republican Party and the start of a new Party!
