Trump Indictment Would ‘Undo Our Republic’

FLASH: Trump Says He Has Been Indicted in Classified Documents Probe.

Former President Donald Trump said last night (June 8) that his attorneys informed him that he had been indicted by special counsel Jack Smith in connection with an investigation into his handling of classified documents.

“The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. He went on to point to the parallel investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents.

Trump said that he has been summoned to appear at the federal courthouse in Miami at 3 p.m. on June 13, according to reporting by Janice Hisle of the Epoch Times.

Over the last couple of days numerous news reports were circulating that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had alerted Trump or his lawyers that he would be formally charged in connection with the classified documents found at his Florida residence during an FBI raid last August.

According to reporting by Janice Hisle of The Epoch Times, Trump, in a Truth Social post, denied knowledge about a pending Washington indictment, says that he has assumed for years he has been “a target of the weaponized DOJ & FBI.” He says the agencies are committing “a travesty of justice and election interference at a level never seen before.”

The flurry of reports about a looming federal indictment of Trump comes as House Republicans are accusing the FBI of withholding key information about a purported $5 million foreign bribe of Democrat President Joe Biden during his years as vice president. He served in that role under President Barack Obama from 2009-2017.

Over the past 30-years the Democratic Party has become a virtual witness protection program for the Clinton and Biden families and their hangers on, as Democrats have shielded them from investigation into their financial affairs, while relentlessly attacking Donald Trump.

As Ms. Hisle observed, Trump, a political outsider prior to his presidential run in 2015, says he has been targeted because entrenched Washington forces fear he will expose them and dismantle their insider network.

And that insider network has thrown off billions of dollars to the Clintons, the Bidens and their favored acolytes.

Almost a year ago, Biden appointed a Special Counsel who started an investigation focusing on Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents after he left the White House.

Former President Trump, supported by numerous experts on the law related to classified documents, says that, as president, he had the power to declassify the records.

In a memo dated Jan. 19, 2021, the day before his presidency ended, Trump wrote that he was declassifying “certain materials related to the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” which delved into disproven allegations from political opponents that Trump had ties with Russian officials and spies.

Our good friend Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project gives a good explanation of why former President Trump “…is allowed to have his presidential records” under the Presidential Records Act.

However, he predicted that the DOJ would “ignore the Presidential Records Act, which has no criminal components,” and seek an indictment under the Espionage Act. Davis argues that the Espionage Act, however, does not apply to the president.

Steve Bannon said on his podcast that he thinks the DOJ is headed for an indictment of Trump.

Ms. Hisle reported Bannon cited articles from John Solomon’s Just The News, as well as a lengthy article by the U.K.-based news outlet The Independent. A Washington grand jury could vote to indict Trump as soon as June 8 for violations of The Espionage Act, The Independent said, citing unnamed sources.

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, an organization known for its dogged pursuit of public records and court fights to obtain them, disclosed that he, too, had been summoned to testify to a grand jury about Trump.

“I was called in before the grand jury in retaliation for defending Trump and the rule of law against this abuse by the Biden Justice Department,” Fitton said in a video he posted on Twitter.

Fitton said he was commenting about “the fake documents scandal that has been used to harass and abuse Trump, to include a raid on his home by the FBI last year.”

“Judicial Watch has been telling you … in terms of this investigation, there’s no good-faith basis to prosecute him, let alone indict him,” Fitton said, according to Ms. Hisle reporting.

“We’re not going to back down and we’ll continue to investigate and stand against this abuse of power that could undo our republic,” Fitton said.

Fitton also denounced the prosecution of Trump as “brazen election interference.”

Tom Fitton is right. Whatever you may think of former President Trump, whether you plan to support him or oppose him we cannot allow the government to be weaponized against the political opponents of an incumbent administration. The right to vote and to select candidates through a fair and open process is the essential safety valve that prevents competing political factions from resorting to violence. As soon as that safety valve is compromised, as a growing body of evidence suggests it is about to be, then our Republic is indeed undone.

The Capitol Switchboard is (202-224-3121), call today and tell your Senators and Representative that you demand they call the FBI and the Biden Department of Justice to account for their manifest abuse of power and election interference in building another specious case against Donald Trump.

I smell a troll who has never read the Bible. God doesn't have to prove he exists, Exodus 3:14 - God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

This looks like a job for the supreme hacks in black to set this bad precedent to rights...Don't count on it, not with Roberts and Cave-anaugh on the court.

250 years of law and precedent have been flushed down the drain by Biden/Garland. This is a precedent that must not be allowed to stand nor should it ever be repeated on such flimsy grounds. Although the Democrat ruled senate would never vote to convict, the House needs to file impeachments of Biden and Garland immediately to get them on the record. It seems like the Democrats are the only people who can make false charges against somebody time after time and then use the fact that there were previous charges as a reason to file new charges. It's a vicious cycle.

I agree. But I am not sure McCarthy and House Republicans have enough stones for such a fight. I will be pleasantly surprised if they do. Thank God Garland was denied a position on the Supreme Court . . . !
