“I’m Scott Parkinson and it is time for new conservative leaders like me to fight back against career politicians like Tim Kaine… It is time to step up and make a difference.”
You remember Virginia’s Far Left Democrat Senator Tim Kaine? Didn’t think so. Kaine was
Hillary Clinton’s lackluster running mate in her epic 2016 defeat by Donald Trump and Mike Pence and Kaine has been pretty much invisible since – not that he was exactly a leading light of the U.S. Senate before.
Now that our friend Scott T. Parkinson has announced his campaign for the Republican nomination to face Kaine in the 2024 Virginia Senate election we predict Kaine is going to have to rouse himself from his habitual somnolence and work for reelection.
That’s because principled limited government constitutional conservative Scott Parkinson is one of the leading young stars of the conservative movement, and we predict with his brains, quick wit and indefatigable work ethic he is going to harry Senator Kaine from one end of the Old Dominion to other.
Scott Parkinson is currently the vice president of government affairs for the Club for Growth, an influential conservative group advocating for lower taxes, limited government, school choice and the repeal of Obamacare.
Scott, who lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and four children, told The Associated Press ahead of a formal announcement that frustration over pandemic-related school and business closures “changed his worldview” and pushed him to seek public office for the first time.
In comments reported by The Virginia Pilot, Scott quickly zeroed in Kaine’s most glaring vulnerability – his votes for key pieces of President Joe Biden’s agenda that have contributed to inflation now crushing the middle class.
“I think that there’s this perception that he’s a nice guy,” Parkinson said. “He plays the banjo and the harmonica, and they don’t peel back the layers of the onion to see exactly how we got to where we are today. And Tim Kaine has voted for all of it.”
Kaine has been in public office for nearly three decades, serving as Richmond’s mayor and later as the state’s lieutenant governor and governor. He was first elected to the Senate in 2012 and will be running for his third term in 2024.
And as the Democratic Party has moved Left from liberal, to progressive to “woke” Kaine has moved Left with it.
As Scott Parkinson explained in remarks announcing his candidacy, "…over the past three years, we needed leaders to stand up and fight for our freedoms. Unfortunately, Tim Kaine fought alongside radical leftists to take our freedoms away and destroy the middle class, prioritize woke ideologies over parents' rights, and enable open-border policies and violent crimes while turning his back on law enforcement causing a public safety crisis. Kaine's leftward lunge began when he joined Hillary Clinton on the ticket as the Vice Presidential nominee in 2016. With nearly 30 years in elected office and nine appearances on the ballot Kaine has lost his way, going from "Blue Dog" to a partisan radical that votes with Bernie Sanders 94% of the time.
"We feel it now at the kitchen table, the gas station, and the cancelled family vacation. Virginia cannot afford 94% of Socialism.”
Parkinson plans to campaign on a promise to cap the growth of government spending and reduce taxation. He voiced support for doubling down on Trump-era tax cuts and rolling back government regulations “stifling American opportunity.”
“I’m terrified about what the future of the American economy looks like for my kids,” Parkinson said, according to reporting by Sarah Rankin of the Associated Press. “And so that will be a big, big element of our campaign, when we create a movement to rescue the middle class.”
“Over the last three years politicians like Tim Kaine and Joe Biden have ignored the middle class,” he said in the announcement video above featuring his two daughters. “Inflation has skyrocketed, parents have been locked out of classrooms and crime rates remain at record highs.”
We first met Scott Parkinson while he was working on Capitol Hill, as a staffer for U.S. Sens. John Ensign, Ron Johnson and Marco Rubio and as executive director of the Republican Study Committee, a conservative House Caucus. He was chief of staff to then-U.S. Rep. DeSantis and then served as deputy executive director of the DeSantis gubernatorial transition team in Florida.
Describing himself as a “regular citizen who is simply fed up,” Scott Parkinson vowed to bring fiscal sanity back to Washington, fight for parental rights, and restore public safety.

I hope this guy is truly conservative. I no longer trust the GOP. They are not a conservative party. The proof is in the pudding. They did not like Uncle Ronnie or President Trump--and pushed candidates on us down through the years including Mitt Romney, John McCain, Bush 41 and 43, Herschel Walker, Dr. Oz, and the like. So I'll need to hear more about this guy before I can label him "conservative."
They have been pushing the narrative that conservatives are not electable in most of the country. If that was the case, how did Uncle Ronnie win 49 of 50 states in 1984, or President Trump rack up 306 electoral votes in 2016 . . . ?
